Listening as one of the skills in language learning plays an important role in a student rsquo s language development. At University level Students learn about writing speaking reading and listening especially majoring in English Language Learning (ELL). However some lecturers realize that many English Foreign Language learners especially those with lower proficiency levels in the language find that listening is the most difficult skill to be learned. Because listening is a key to all effective communication especially conversation. Without the ability to listen messages are easily misunderstood. This study is intended to know ELL students perspectives over Extensive Listening Activities. The quantitative approach was used as the research design as it involved a large number of students. The total number of respondents who answered the questionnaire is 79 ELL students at Universitas Negeri Malang. To collect the data the researcher employs questionnaires consisting of 17 questions total divided into 13 close-ended questions and four open-ended questions. The questionnaire contents cover respondents background information respondents extensive listening frequency extensive listening activities and materials problems and students opinions toward extensive Listening. The students rsquo response to the questionnaire seem to indicate that they have developed some extensive listening activities. This is shown the students show positive result in all indicators. First 54.4% of ELL (English Language Literature) students always practice listening for enjoyment outside the class. Second ELL students mostly show positive feeling toward extensive listening. They felt comfortable doing extensive listening. Third most of ELL students always feel inspired and motivated in doing listening practice. Fourth the students prefer to watch movies and videos on YouTube and listen to English song and rarely choose podcasts. The data also revealed that almost all of the students agree that extensive listening activities can improve their listening mastery. In accordance with the findings of this study for teachers/lecturers this study s results can be used as clear information and situations that will look more deeply extensive listening for students. The students can enhance their amount of extensive listening frequency because it helps strengthen their bottom-up listening skill level listening vocabulary fluency and general proficiency.. The next researchers can explore students rsquo extensive listening activities more intensively by involving in-depth interview with students which was not done in this study.
