This study is a literary criticism on the aspect of spirituality of Paulo Coelho s novel The Alchemist which extends to highlight social contexts behind the boom of universal spirituality particularly the Law of Attraction (LoA). The novel s spiritual messages are matched with LoA. Curiously the teaching accommodates the pursuit of wealth. Perceived through lenses of Marx s social behaviour interference of capitalism can be detected. Commodification of spirituality does actually take place under the cover of self-empowerment it recruits more and more people to take part in the Capitalism s scenario.
