Keywords: teaching material, colligative properties of solutions, chemical representation of tetrahedral metaphor Chemistry is known as a science that can explain natural phenomena. One of the chemicals in high school that some students consider difficult is the colligative properties of solutions. Based on the results of several studies showing students' understanding of the material of the colligative properties of solutions is still low. One of the efforts made is to provide innovative teaching materials so that learning is more meaningful and students can understand the chemical concepts as a whole. These teaching materials can be facilitated by the chemical representation of the tetrahedral metaphor presented by involving three levels of chemical representation (sub-microscopic, symbolic and macroscopic) and aspects of the human element that relate the relationship of chemistry to everyday life. Teaching materials are also equipped with questions that can help students construct the concept. This study aims to produce appropriate and valid teaching materials with the title of teaching material colligative properties based on the chemical representation of tetrahedral metaphors to improve understanding of concepts. The development of this teaching material uses theteaching material development model Four-D developed by Thiagarajan et al. (1974: 5). The development of teaching materials is carried out through 4 stages, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate, but the development of teaching materials is only carried out until thestage develop. Validity and feasibility of teaching materials are obtained from quantitative data and qualitative data from the results of validation. Quantitative data obtained based on questionnaire scores arranged in a Likert scale and qualitative data obtained based on comments and suggestions from expert validators, namely 1 chemistry lecturer and 2 high school chemistry teachers. Quantitative and qualitative data were also obtained from readability tests conducted on 10 students of Malang Brawijaya Smart School High School. The results of data processing are used as a reference to revise the product, so that before the readability test is carried out the teaching material has been revised based on suggestions from experts. The results of the validation carried out by expert validators on the student books obtained an average percentage for content assessment of 85.18%, language assessments of 86.67% and presentation ratings of 86.67%, while in the teacher's books obtained an average percentage for content assessment was 85.18%, language assessment was 86.67%, presentation evaluation was 86.67% and iv learning device assessment was 82.67%. The readability test results conducted on 10 students of class XII obtained an average percentage for display assessment of 91.33%, evaluation of presentation of 91%, evaluation of benefits of 91.33%. Based on the established criteria, this teaching material is very feasible to be used as a learning resource on the subject matter of the colligative nature of the solution for high school / MA class XII students.
