Imron Arifin M.Pd Kata kunci kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah pendidikan karakter Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan Pengembangan karakter berorientasi kerja bagi peserta didik SMK merupakan hal yang urgen untuk mempersiapkan lulusannya menghadapi dunia kerja. Hal tersebut membutuhkan kepemimpinan yang efektif. Salah satunya kepemimpinan tranformasional yaitu kepemimpinan yang mampu mentransformasi perubahan untuk mengembangkan nilai-nilai karakter. Fokus penelitian ini terdiri dari tiga hal yang meliputi (1) visi dan misi sekolah (2) pendidikan karakter dan (3) kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan rancangan penelitian ini adalah studi multisitus. Lokasi penelitian dipilih berdasarkan purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan wawancara mendalam observasi dan dokumentasi. Analisis data terdiri dari dua tahap yaitu analisis data individu dengan metode induksi analitik yang dimodifikasi dan analisis lintas situs. Pengecekan keabsahan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi derajat kepercayaan keteralihan kebergantungan dan kepastian. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. Pertama perumusan visi dan misi sekolah merupakan gambaran sekolah yang modern dengan melibatkan semua unsur sekolah dan komite sekolah. Sosialisasi visi dan misi sekolah melalui education authentication motivation leadership by example dan multiple form. Implementasi visi dan misi sekolah melalui proses belajar mengajar pembiasaan berbasis religi dan program-program sekolah. Kedua nilai-nilai karakter yang dikembangkan adalah nilai-nilai yang esensial sederhana mudah dilaksanakan dan berorientasi kerja. Implementasi pendidikan karakter melalui pengembangan budaya sekolah pengembangan diri pembiasaaan berbasis religi kegiatan pembelajaran dengan penerapan model pembelajaran inovatif pengkondisian dan kegiatan ekstra kulikuler. Dampak pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter meliputi suasana atau iklim sekolah yang kondusif peserta didik memahami hak dan kewajiban di sekolah kematangan psikologis peserta didik terciptanya budaya sekolah yang kuat dan peneladanan kepada teman sebaya. Ketiga kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah antara lain memberikan teladan kepada bawahan meliputi saling berbagi resiko memiliki standar etika dan moral yang tinggi untuk diteladani memberikan motivasi bawahan meliputi melakukan komunikasi interaktif dan normatif membangun antusiasme bawahan memberikan stimulus intelektual kepada bawahan meliputi mampu menstimulus ide-ide kreatif untuk memecahkan masalah memberikan perhatian kepada individu meliputi mampu memperhatikan kebutuhan bawahan sebagai upaya mengembangkan potensi dan karir dan memenuhi kebutuhan peserta didik untuk pengembangan dan peningkatan potensi akademik maupun non akademik dampak kepemimpinan transformasional kepala sekolah meliputi lingkungan sekolah menjadi kondusif dan nyaman perilaku-perilaku warga sekolah yang menujukkan semakin memiliki kesadaran tinggi untuk mengimplementasikan nilai-nilai karakter berorientasi kerja tanggapan positif masyarakat atau stakeholder tentang komitmen pelaksanaan pendidikan karakter di sekolah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diberikan saran-saran kepada Pertama Kepala Sekolah di ketiga lokasi penelitian dapat dijadikan pertimbangan dalam menentukan prioritas dan melakukan evaluasi nilai-nilai karakter berorientasi kerja sebagai upaya sekolah melakukan penguatan perubahan-perubahan dan penyesuaian dalam menciptakan budaya yang kuat di sekolah. Kedua Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Kabupaten Jombang Kota Mojokerto dan Kabupaten Mojokerto hendaknya memberikan dukungan kuat untuk bersinergi dalam usaha pengembangan karakter di lingkungan masyarakat sekolah hendaknya melakukan koordinasi secara sinergi antara Lembaga Sekolah Depdikbud dan Depnaker dalam penanganan pendidikan dan pelatihan kejuruan. Ketiga Kemendikbud Propinsi Jawa Timur hendaknya menyelenggarakan pendidikan dan pelatihan kepala sekolah tentang pola kepemimpinan manajemen pembelajaran berbasis kompetensi yang integrasi pada nilai-nilai karakter dan manajemen sekolah menuju modernisasi kejuruan dan melakukan rekontruksi kurikulum berbasis kompetensi untuk memenuhi standar-standar lapangan kerja dan Peneliti lain untuk melaksanakan penelitian lanjutan yang lebih spesifik dan detail terhadap demensi-demensi kepemimpinan transformasional dan manajemen pendidikan karakter berorientasi kerja. It needs an effective leadership. One of them is transformational leadership namely the leadership which is able to transform the changes to develop character values.This research focused on three things they were (1) vision and mission of the school (2) character education and (3) transformational leadership of the principal. This research applied qualitative approach.The research design was multisites study.The location was chosen based on the purposive sampling.The data collection was conducted by using depth interview observation and documentation. The data analysis consisted of two stages namely individual data was done through modified analytic induction method and analyzing the data sites.The validity of data used in this study are credibility transferability dependability and confirmability. The findings were as the following First the school formulation of vision and mission was the image of modern school which involved all school items and the school committee. Sharing or socialization of school vision and mission was done through education authentication motivation leadership through examples and multiple forms. The implementation of school vision and mission was done through teaching and learning process making people accustomed to get religious base and school programs. Second character values which were developed were essential values simple easy to do and work oriented. The implementation of character education was done through the development of school culture self development making people accustomed to get religious base learning activity with the implementation of innovative learning model management of school condition and extracurricular activities. The impact of the implementation of character education was the situation or school climate seemed to be conducive the students understood the rights and the obligations at school psychological mature of the students the creation of strong cultural school and good model for the peers. Third transformational leadership of the principal such as giving a good model to the subordinates by sharing risks each other having ethics standard and high moral to be seen as the model giving motivation to the subordinates by applying interactive and normative communication and building the enthusiasm of the subordinates giving intellectual stimulus to the subordinates to be able to stimulate creative ideas to solve the problems giving attention to the individual to be afford in paying attention in the subordinate needs as the effort in developing potential and career and fulfilling the students needs to develop and to improve academic and non academic potential and the impact of transformational leadership of the principal was the school environment became the conducive and comfortable the behavior of the school participants showed that they had higher awareness to implement the character values which is oriented to work positive response from the society or the stakeholders about the commitment in conducting character education at school. Based on the findings of the research there were suggestions given to the First the Principal in three research locations it can be consideration in deciding the priority and making evaluation to the character values which is oriented to work as the school effort to do reinforcement the changes and the adjustment in creating a strong culture at school. Second Department of Education and Culture in the district of Jombang in the town of Mojokerto and in the district of Mojokerto they should give a strong support to make a synergy in the effort of character development in the school society environment. They should make a synergy among School Institutions Department of Education and Culture and Department of Labor in overcoming the problem in education and training in Vocational Schools. Third Ministry of Education and Culture should hold an education and training for the principal about the leadership pattern learning management with competency based which is integrated with character values and school management goes to the modernization of Vocational School and other researchers in conducting further research to be more specific and more detail in the dimensions of transformational leadership and the management of the character education which is oriented to work.
