Abstract

The new paradigm demands in managing education nowadays oriented on the values that is developed in educational institution. It is because the educational institution is a social order from the society with its culture. So that the function of educational institution is to nurture to develop and to give a shape the cultural values. The purposes of this research is to identify and to unfold (1) the process of values transformation in school (2) the implication process of values transformation in school (3) the role of the Principal in the process of values transformation in school with the cultural ground of Madura culture (4) the role of teacher in SMK Kenanga SMA Kaffa and MA Suhat in Gerbang Ceria in the transformational process in school (5) the role of society leaders in the values transformation in school (6) the school resistance towards values transformation (7) the Principal s endeavor as a leader to overcome the resistance towards values transformation and (8) the existing values on students in school. This research uses multi-case studies with the constant comparative method. The research located in SMK Kenanga SMA Kaffa and MAN Suhat in Gerbang Ceria. The informants of this research are the Principals the teachers the students and the society leaders. The technique of data collection uses (1) depth interviews (2) participants observation and (3) documentation studies. Data analyses conducted on two stages those are (1) data analyses of individual cases and (2) data analyses of cross cases. Data validity controlled through the levels of credibility transferability dependability and confirmability. The research finding shows that (1) the process of transformations of religious values custom values and art and cultural values of Madura ethnic which happens in three schools researched those are SMK Kenanga SMA Kaffa and MA Suhat in Gerbang Ceria with ethnical ground of Madura culture through various ways of approach among others are religion construction Madura language usage shaking hands and kissing hand custom in school the way customize and uswatun khasanah or giving examples of well being conduct in accord with politeness values. The supporting factors of values transformation processes in school among others are customize ways and giving examples. While the hamper factors of the process of value transformation in school are students appreciation towards the local art and culture are still low only a small parts of the students are involved in the local art and culture activities as a contrast most part of students are more attracted on the culture from outside (2) The implication of transformation values process in tree schools researched those are SMK Kenanga SMA Kaffa and MA Suhat in Gerbang Ceria Regency enable the culture is developed enough. Some indicators that causes the implication of value transformation process in school among others are the awareness about how important the religious program covering the forbidden part of the women body Dhuha prayer pengajian or recital of the Koran on Thursday night PBHI there are many teacher wearing Jilbab or hairs covering clothes the students who participate on the application of religious values in schools and students who shake hands while kissing hand when they met the teachers. The supporting factors are the care of all school members and hamper factors are most of the students are not able to speak Maduranese language politely and environmental factor which does not support as well as the lack of socialization bout the understanding of Madura traditional art (3) the role of the Principals in three schools researched those are SMK Kenanga SMA Kaffa and MA Suhat in Gerbang Ceria in the values transformational process in school with Maduranese ethnical culture ground is as a role of the leader of transformational the Principals work with and/or through other persons has been able to change the resources of energy either human resources or the situation from the environment surround the school in the form of religious values custom values and Maduranese art and cultural values to be transform and applied in school in accord with the situation and condition as well as the characteristics of the schools through various methods/ ways/approaches viewed as effective enough (4) The role of teachers in the values transformation process in the three schools researched thosa are SMK Kenanga SMA Kaffa and MA Suhat in Gerbang Ceria with Maduranese ethnical culture ground the most prominent thing is the awareness of each teachers has an important role and very influential because they are the direct implementers which are faced with learners in schools. Teachers customized sungkem for each student every time they come and go home through Guidance and Counseling teacher giving suggestion in the classroom fill up the extracurricular religious activities guide the students in the religious activities integrated through the subject they taught with the culture everyday which directed on the values transformation process in schools (5) The role of society leaders or culture experts in the environment of school surrounding toward values transformation in three schools researched those are SMK Kenanga SMA Kaffa and MA Suhat in Gerbang Ceria with Maduranese ethnical culture ground among others created through School Committees there is often an interaction between the society leaders with the schools. Beside that there are some alumnus of the school who has been succeeded in the careers came to schools and gave motivations o the students in those schools religious leaders ( Kyai ) who came to schools in some religious ceremonial the Principals who actively participates in the social organization especially with religious leaders in Pondok Pesantren (Traditional Religion Education) because there some students who live in pondok pesantren (6) The Hindrance (obstacles) faced by the schools in the process of values transformation of religious values custom values art and cultural values in three schools researched those are SMK Kenanga SMA Kaffa and MA Suhat in Gerbang Ceria among of those caused by (a) the low students appreciation toward Madura original arts because students are more interested on the culture from outside Madura (b) the increasing of IT development so that students could easily access information from outside through communication technology which becoming more complex its impact such as the invented of hand phone which contain of pornography photograph sites download and (c) The characteristics of Maduranese who like to leave their home areas so that the originality of the culture itself is hard to discovered. In fact there is a transformation process but it is very low toward cultural arts. In other side transformation in the religious aspects is very strong because the society in surrounding schools highly appreciate the universal values (7) The Principals endeavor as leaders to overcome the schools obstacles towards transformation have not been done optimally by each school. The investment of daily aptitudes and behavior which reflects the custom and Madura ethnical habit in school of three sites researched have been optimal. However more programmed endeavor and more detail about the schools to solve the resistance of school families toward the process values transformation of religious custom art and culture which are grounded of Madura ethnical culture has not been created concretely in the form of school s program. The schools endeavors out side the schools activities are only limited when there are some programs implemented by the Office of Education as well as the Local Government in special events such as the selection of Kacong and Jebing festival and (8) The existence of values in students of three schools researched among others are can be grouped as follows (1) Religious values believe in the Only One God not under view the other creatures resignation thrust each other thank to God honest and not easily swear (2) Attitudes and behavior values hard working not easily give up never surrender work diligently resolute in facing problems simple live appreciate towards cleverness (3) The values of work ethics hard working having strong will to get something be valiant to face problem (4) Language values using Maduranese local language in daily life and (5) Custom values believe in ancestor souls caring for women appreciate self esteem obeyed towards persons they appreciate sensitive or easily offended vulgar and rude strong friendship honor parents love sea world open minded polite loyal to parents. Based on the above research findings it can be suggested as follows (1) For the Principals it is suggested can be able to apply transformational leader model by empowering all of human resources (teachers as co leaders in its process) and all tools and equipments in schools as instruments to apply religious values transformation as well as custom arts and culture values that ground on Madura cultural ethnic in schools they lead by infusing Madura arts and cultural ethnic materials in extracurricular activities send the students to participate on the selection of Kacong and Jebing festival as well as sending arts teachers to joint the relevant training of their subjects as well as actively participate in scientific meetings which study Madura arts and culture such as sarasehan seminar and lokakarya etc. Beside that the Principals are able to construct the program operationally to apply positive values transformation to develop further in schools. The other Principals endeavor are suggested to formulate conceptually the more programmed and more detail endeavors as well as include those endeavor into RIPS (Rencana Induk Pengembangan Sekolah) that is five years programs and RKS (Rencana Kerja Sekolah) or School Work Planning that is the school work program in one year period (2) For the society leaders Culture experts and Religious Leaders are suggested that the schools can be effective instruments to preserve the values of Madura cultural ethnic so the schools should involve the society leaders and culture experts in surrounding environments who have regionally or nationally reputations and achievements so that they are able to be main resources and inspiration about the preservation of the values of Madura cultural ethnic for learners (3) For the Office of Education and Culture in Gerbang Ceria Regency as an institution who is relevant to provide training and control about the preservation of Madura cultural ethnic needs to increase the frequent of activities that can be the arena of competition and resemble the original of Madura cultural ethnic values through entertainment show carnival arts festival of Madura culture lokakarya and training which can be followed by the schools and teachers and (4) For other researchers who are interested to take the follow up study about the values transformation in schools who have Madura ethnic background are suggested to take the follow up study by using wider setting and by using the integrative of quantitative and qualitative methods so that the research findings are expected to be accountable.
