ABSTRAK Amelia, Farina. 2017. Makna Pembelajaran Geografi bagi Siswa Kelas XII IPS SMAN 10 Banjarmasin dalam Pendekatan Fenomenologi. Kata kunci: makna, pembelajaran geografi, siswa, fenomenologi Masalah yang menjadi latar belakang penelitian ini adalah motivasi siswa SMAN 10 Banjarmasin mengikuti pembelajaran geografi. Siswa menganggap materi pada mata pelajaran geografi terlalu banyak sehingga sulit untuk dipahami. Mata pelajaran geografi dianggap sulit namun tidak pernah menjadi kendala syarat kenaikan kelas bagi siswa jurusan IPS. Fokus penelitian ini, yaitu: (1)Bagaimana motif yang mempengaruhi motivasi siswa Kelas XII IPS SMAN 10 Banjarmasin belajar geografi? (2) Bagaimana makna pembelajaran geografi bagi siswa Kelas XII IPS SMAN 10 Banjarmasin?Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap makna pembelajaran geografi bagi siswa Kelas XII SMAN 10 Banjarmasin. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi perspektif Alfred Schutz. Menurut Schutz, pemahaman (dunia makna) tidak terlepas dari motif sebab dan motif tujuan. Motif sebab mengacu pada peristiwa masa silam yang melatarbelakangi individu melakukan tindakan tertentu. Motif tujuan mengacu kepada suatu keadaan di masa mendatang dimana individu berkeinginan untuk mencapainya melalui beberapa tindakannya. Pendekatan fenomenologi perspektif Schutz dipilih karena memiliki kekhususan yang sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian, yaitu peneliti ingin mengetahui motivasi belajar geografi dan makna pembelajaran geografi bagi siswa Kelas XII IPS SMAN 10 Banjarmasin. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran geografi tidak diminati oleh semua siswa sehingga terdapat siswa yang memilliki motivasi tinggi belajar geografi dan siswa yang memiliki motivasi rendah belajar geografi. Motivasi belajar ini dipengaruhi oleh motif sebab dan motif tujuan. Makna pembelajaran geografi bagi siswa yang memiliki motivasi tinggi belajar geografi adalah geografi merupakan mata pelajaran yang menyenangkan, bermanfaat bagi kehidupan sehari-hari, dan mengubah cara bersikap sehingga menjadi pribadi yang lebih baik. Makna pembelajaran geografi bagi siswa yang memiliki motivasi rendah belajar geografi adalah geografi merupakan mata pelajaran yang sulit, membosankan, dan kurang dirasakan manfaatnya bagi kehidupan sehari-hari namun harus dipelajari supaya bisa nilai bagus di rapor dan ijazah yang akan digunakan untuk kuliah dan atau bekerja setelah lulus SMA.  ABSTRACT Amelia, Farina. 2017. Keywords: meaning, geography learning, students, phenomenology The problem that became the background of this research is the motivation of SMAN 10 BanjarmasinÔÇÖs students follow the learning of geography. Students assume the content on geography subject difficult to understand. But, geography subjects never been a constraint for students majoring in social studies when they was promoted to next grade. The focus of this research are: (1) How motives that affect motivate students class XII social studiesSMAN 10 Banjarmasin learn geography? (2) How the meaning of learning geography for students of class XII social studiesSMAN 10 Banjarmasin? The purpose of this research is reveal the meaning of learning geography for students of class XII social studiesSMAN 10 Banjarmasin. This research uses AlfredSchutz perspective phenomenology approach. According to Schutz, understanding (the world of meaning) can not be separatedfrom because motive and in order to motive. Because motive refers to past events related with background of each individual in taking certain actions. While the in order to motive refers to a state in the future where the individual wants to achieve through some of his/her actions. The phenomenological approach of Schutz perspective was chosen because it has specificity which appropriate with research purpose, therefore the researcher wants to know the motivation of students in learning geography and the meaning of studying geography by the students of Class XII IPS SMAN 10 Banjarmasin. The results showed that studying geography is not so much interesting and not desirable almost by all students, but there still found students who has good motivation (enthusiasm) in learning geography. Students with low motivation in learning geography assumed that geography is a hard and not interesting subject. This learning motivation is also influenced by because motive and in order to motive. The meaning of studying geography for students with high motivation is geography is as a fun and interesting subject, useful for everyday life, and change the way they behave so that becomes a better person. While the meaning of geography for students who have low in motivation is a difficult, boring subject and less benefits for their everyday life but still, it must be studied in order to get good score or achievement in the report cards and diplomas that will be used for college and or work after graduated high school.
