Abstract

SMK PGRI 1 Ngawi is a vocational school using curriculum 2004. The previous practice learning system was distributed practice system. The problem faced by the practice teachers was the students competency couldn t be reached maximally. It was caused by other subjects that must be had or received by the students an the effective days in that week. Therefore it is necessary to apply a different practice system that is block prsctice system as an alternative practice learning at SMK PGRI 1 Ngawi. In the block system practice implementation is done in a series with an alternative short spare time between the meetings and in finishing competency can be continued. Block practice system can enhance competency after the practice end and it is swited for enhancing students competency achievement. Competency achievement is influenced by Intellegence Quotient Level of the student. The students Intellegence Quotient level is students ability level in doing any problem. The competency achievement in operating production machinery with electromecanical control is students competency ability in gaining their success by doing production machinery competency with electromecanical control. The purpose of this research is to find out the influence of the block practice system and the students s Intellgence Quotion level towards the competency achievement in operating production machinery with electromecanical control at the second grade of SMK PGRI 1 Ngawi. This research uses quasy-experimental research method with non-equivalent control group design because the subject selection was not done randomly and the group selection of the research subject has been formed directly using pre-test and post-test design model. The resrarch was done at the second grade students of SMK PGRI 1 Ngawi in the academic year of 2006/2007 which consists of 2 classes II La and II Lb with 44 students each and they are devided into control group and experimental group. The control group uses the block system. The instruments used in this research are pre-test and post-test in objective test (multiple coices) with 30 items. The result of this research shows that the block practice system which was implemented at the second grade of SMK PGRI 1 Ngawi proved to be able to improve the production machinery with electromecanical control competency and it was shown by the average score of the pre-test and post-test of the distributed system is 67.91 and block system is 70.64. Whereas the influence of the students s IQ against the production machinery with electromecanical control competency. The highest IQ score is 84.38% an distributed system and block system is 95.37%. The result shows that there is significant influence in the block practice systemand the Intellegence Quotient level against the students s competency achievement in operating production machinery with electromecanical control at the second grade of SMK PGRI 1 Ngawi. Based on this result it could be suggested that block practice system can be used as alternative in improving students competency achievement.
