Advisors (I) Dr. Mirjam Anugerahwati M.A. (II) Fachrurrazy M.A. Ph.D Key words Developing Supplementary Materials Motorcycle Engineering Competency Skill Productive Subjects Every Competency Skills in Vocational High School (VHS) uses different English technical terms and expression in the work field. Therefore appropriate English for Specific Purposes (ESP) materials are needed for VHS students to prepare and make them becoming well equipped with work skills upon the entrance of the job market. In the 2013 Curriculum the government provides the English textbook for SMK students. However the English textbook for SMK students and the student s workbook for any grades do not provide any material related to certain Competency Areas Competency Programs and Competency Skills on VHS in Indonesia. This research is aimed to develop suitable English supplementary material which contains Productive material of Motorcycle Engineering Competency Skill for the 10th graders. The researcher applied Content Based Instruction (CBI) in its development since topic or theme based courses provided a good basis for integrated skill. The researcher conducted need analysis to gain the information about the students needs the teacher s opinions and the current student s workbook at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Nganjuk. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires and validation checklists. The material development model was scale down and simplified into eight steps but still contained the principles of educational research and development (R D). The results of expert s validation show that the language content the productive content and the presentation were valid and the developed products were feasible to be tried-out. However some revisions were done to improve the quality of the products. In conclusion these supplementary materials are recommended to apply for the 10th graders of Motorcycle Engineering Competency Skill at VHS. For other researchers are highly recommended to conduct further research on suitable English material to cover the students need and interest on certain Competency Skill at VHS. The products had been validated by an English language teaching expert and two Productive teaching experts. The final product is a set of supplementary materials which are in the form of student s workbook teacher s book and an audio CD. These products will be applied for the 10th graders of Motorcycle Engineering Competency Skill at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Nganjuk as the supplementary materials. The student s workbook consists of five units. Every unit consists of seven integrated activities. Oleh karena itu materi Bahasa Inggris khusus yang sesuai Kompetensi Keahlian diperlukan bagi siswa SMK untuk menyiapkan dan membuat mereka memiliki keterampilan kerja pada saat memasuki pasar kerja.dalam kurikulum 2013 pemerintah menyediakan buku teks Bahasa Inggris bagi siswa SMK. Namun buku teks dan buku kerja siswa Bahasa Inggris tersebut tidak mengandung materi Produktif bagi Bidang Keahlian Program Keahlian dan Kompetensi Keahlian tertentu di SMK di Indonesia. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengembangkan materi tambahan yang sesuai yang mengandung materi Produktif pada Kompetensi Keahlian Teknik Sepeda Motor bagi siswa kelas sepuluh di SMK. Peneliti menggunakan Content Based Instruction (CBI) dalampengembangan produk ini karena kegiatan berbasis topic atau tema adalah dasar bagi penggabungan keterampilan berbahasa. Peneliti mengadakan analisa kebutuhan untuk memperoleh informasi mengenai kebutuhan para siswa pendapat para guru dan buku kerja siswa yang sedang dipergunakan di SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Nganjuk. Instrument yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuesioner dan lembar ceklis validasi. Model pengembangan materi di perkecil dan disederhanakan kedalam delapan langkah pengembangan tetapi tetap mengandung prinsip penelitian dan penegembangan pendidikan. Hasil dari validasi ahli menunjukkan bahwa konten Bahasa konten materi Produktif dan penyajian produk telah valid dan produk yang dikembangkan layak untuk diuji-cobakan. Namun beberapa perbaikan dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas produk. Kesimpulannya materi tambahan ini direkomendasikan untuk dipergunakan bagi siswa kelas sepuluh pada Kompetensi Keahlian Teknik Sepeda Motor di SMK. Bagi para peneliti lainnya sangat disarankan untuk mengadakan penelitian selanjutnya pada materi Bahasa Inggris yang sesuai untuk memenuhi kebutuhan dan minat siswa pada Paket Keahlian tertentu di lingkup SMK. Produk ini telah divalidasi oleh ahli pengajaran Bahasa Inggris dan dua ahli pengajaran Produktif. Produk akhir pada penelitian ini adalah serangkaian materi tambahan Bahasa Inggris yaitu dari buku kerja siswa buku guru dan DC. Produk ini akan dipergunakan bagi siswa kelas sepuluh pada Kompetensi Keahlian Teknik Sepeda Motor di SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Nganjuk sebagai materi tambahan. Buku kerja siswa terdiri dari lima unit. Setiap unit terdiri dari tujuh aktifitas terintegrasi/gabungan yaitu menyimak berbicara dan pengucapan membaca tata Bahasa menulis kosakata dan tes kompetensi.
