ABSTRACT Rahmawati Ida Fitri. 2017. Modelling the Pattern of Relationships among Cognitive Learning Style Reading Anxiety Reading Strategy and Reading Comprehension among EFL University Students. Thesis. English Language Teaching Graduate Program of State University of Malang. Advisors (I) Dr. Mirjam Anugerahwati M.A. (II) Prof. Dr. Gunadi Harry Sulistyo M.A. Keywords pattern of relationship cognitive learning style reading anxiety reading strategy reading comprehension In general this study is intended to investigate the pattern of relationship among several selected factors contributing to the students reading comprehension. Several variables including cognitive learning style reading anxiety reading strategy are predicted to contribute significantly towards the students reading comprehension. This study is quantitative employing multiple regression research design called Path Analysis. The subjects of the study are 206 (two hundred and six) students majoring English department of University of Muhammadiyah Malang. In order to collect the data this study involves several instruments namely GEFT test reading test reading anxiety questionnaire and reading strategy questionnaire. The tests are used to collect the data related to the students cognitive learning style and reading comprehension. Meanwhile the questionnaires are distributed to the participants in order to find out reading strategy and reading anxiety used by the participants. All the data obtained from the participants are statistically calculated analyzed and described using multiple regression techniques involving a correlational design called Path Analysis. The results of the study revealed that reading anxiety is the only significant path with direct contribution to reading comprehension. However mediated by reading strategy anxiety do not contribute significantly on the path model. Moreover cognitive learning style does not contribute significantly to reading comprehension but it contribute significantly on reading strategy. Based on the results this study concluded that the significant variable affect the students reading comprehension is anxiety. Referring to the results and some limitation of this study the future researchers are suggested to involve more cognitive variable and affective variable in the proposed path since the residual value found is high (indicating that there are other factors which possibly affect reading comprehension). By providing more variables in the path model it is expected that the relationship of the proposed path will be more interactively found. Moreover further researcher is suggested to involve greater number of participants across universities in order to avoid bias. ABSTRAK Rahmawati Ida Fitri. 2017.
