Key words role-play EuroTalk speaking skill The objective of this research was intended to describe how role-play using EuroTalk in modeling stage strategy improve speaking skill of the tenth graders of MAN Pacet. It was believed the strategy could improve students speaking skill and motivation in teaching and learning process. The design of this research was Collaborative Classroom Action Research (CCAR). The researcher was assisted by two English teachers as collaborators to observe students speaking development and the increase of their motivation. The research was conducted in two cycles with five meetings for each. The subjects of this research were the students of the tenth grade of class ten one (X-1) for the first cycle and class ten seven (X-7) for the second cycle at MAN Pacet Cianjur. The research intrument for students speaking skill was speaking scoring rubric and for their motivation were questionaire observation check list and field notes. This research was considered successful if it met three criteria (1) the average of the students speaking scores achieved at least sixty (60) (2) the lowest score of the students performance score was not less than fifty and (3) the average of the students involvement reached at least on the active (A) position. The procedure of the implementation of Role-play using EuroTalk in Modeling stage strategy in speaking class covers four main steps modeling drafting rehearsing and performing. Modeling includes (1) eliciting the target vocabulary to be used in the model and drilling them with the help of power point slide shows (2) elaborating the target vocabulary with the target expression used in the model (3) telling students what they are going to study (4) assigning students to watch and listen to a model on power point slide shows (5) running interactive CD ROM from EuroTalk (6) engaging the students to follow the model under the program control (7) assigning the students to practice focusing on vocabulary pronunciation and expression used in the model and (8) equiping the students with ISO file or MP3 file of the programs to practice out class hours. The second is drafting covering (1) having the students sit in pairs or groups (2) providing students with a sheet of conversation text and asking them to identify typical expressions relevant to the topic (3) providing students with prompts to make a draft of conversation for role-play with similar topic and (4) checking the students work. The third is rehearsing (1) letting the students rehearse the role play (2) checking their grammar and pronunciation. The last is performing (1) assigning the students to act out the role-play in pairs or group and (2) giving feedback and correction for the students performance. The findings shows that strategy of Role-play using EuroTalk in modeling stage improved the students speaking skill and the students involvement during the teaching and learning process. The improvement could be seen from the average of students speaking performance that achieved 67.92 and met the criteria of success. Therefore suggestion is addressed to teachers to use the program on the role-play strategy in teaching speaking as alternative. Suggestion is also addressed to the school principle of MAN Pacet and other stakeholders to facilitate the school with more instructional multimedia so that the teachers in the school will be far from technical restrictions during the implementation of the strategy. For further researchers particularly those who are interested in EuroTalk it is suggested to conduct the study on the use of EuroTalk on other strategy for a particular skill or integrated skills for example to improve students listening skill.
