Abstract

(II) Dr. Gunadi Harry Sulistyo M.A. Key words developing e-writing materials MTs N Kota Pasuruan The present study aims at developing e-writing materials to meet the needs of the students of MTs N Kota Pasuruan. The current study employs a design and development model of Richey and Klein with three main stages identifying research problem phase realized through needs assessment model development research and model validation research for both internal and external validation. Internal validation is a validation phase which involves some experts in FGD forum to judge over the product while external validation is a validation phase which involves students and English teachers to give a response to the product. The research involves the second-grade students of MTs N Kota Pasuruan. In the stage of needs assessment the instruments used to collect the data are a set of questionnaires addressed to the students and an interview guide addressed to stake holders school principal vice school principal of curriculum ICT teacher and English teacher. The result of the data is very important as a consideration for developing the materials. The draft of the materials were evaluated by three different experts three subject matter experts ICT expert (CALL Practitioner) and instructional technology expert. The validated product is tried out to three different levels of students upper class medium class and lower class. The result of the data from the students shows that the final product can be regarded as an appropriate material for the students the applicability of the materials reach the score of 3.41 (85.35 %) the usefulness reach the score of 3.32 (83.16 %) the attractiveness reach the score of 3.50 (87 %) motivating reach the score of 3.43 (77.38 %) and the ease of using the materials reach the score of 3.09 (77.38 %). This data are supported by the result of the data obtained from English teachers this materials reflect constructivism reaches the score of 4.00 (100 %) questioning reaches the score of 3.40 (85 %) inquiry reaches the score of 3.33 (83.53 %) learning community reaches the score of 3.33 (83.53 %) modeling reaches the score of 3.67 (91.75%) reflection reaches the score of 3.00 (75 %) and authentic assessment reaches the score of 3.11 (77.75 %). Therefore these materials which reflect Contextual Teaching and learning (CTL) are categorized as a very good material and no revision needed.
