It enables anyone to search information or send messages very fast to different parts of the world. One of the real advantages of the Internet is that both teachers and students have access to authentic English. They can browse and visit particular site at any time and any place. The Videocast from the Internet is chosen to solve some problems arising in the teaching of reading skill. This study was conducted on the basis of the preliminary study at MTsN Jatisari Karawang in which the researcher found that the students ability to comprehend the reading texts was not adequate yet as shown by the score obtained on their Preliminary Study-Test. In addition based on the observation it was revealed that in most of the activities the teacher was engaged in testing the students comprehension rather than in teaching the effective strategies of understanding a reading material. Thus this action research was done to overcome the students difficulty in reading comprehension in terms of finding main ideas and detailed information from descriptive texts. For the reason the teaching and learning of reading comprehension by using the Videocast from the Internet was used as an instructional medium by implementing three steps in the teaching of reading to improve the students reading comprehension i.e. pre-viewing viewing and post-viewing. The research problem could be formulated as follows How can the use of the Videocast improve the eighth graders comprehension skills in reading descriptive texts at MTsN Jatisari Karawang This study aimed at developing the use of the Videocast to improve the students reading comprehension. This study was designed as collaborative classroom action research in which the researcher and his collaborator worked together on designing the lesson plan implementing the action observing the effect of action and reflecting on the result of the action. In carrying out this study the researcher acted as the practitioner while his collaborator became the observer. This study was carried out by following the procedure of the classroom action research i.e. planning implementing observing and reflecting. The subjects of the study were the Class VIII D students of MTs Negeri Jatisari Karawang in the academic year 2010/2011 which consisted of 32 students. For data collection some research instruments were used including the observation checklists for the teacher and students activities questionnaire field notes and reading comprehension tests. All the collected data were analyzed descriptively and the results of the analysis were compared with the criteria of success defined in this study to see whether they had been achieved or not. Specifically the activities of using the Videocast consist of three stages namely pre-viewing viewing and post-viewing. The activities in the pre-viewing step using the Videocast were tapping their background knowledge stimulating interest in the topic and lessening their fear of unfamiliar vocabulary. In the activity of viewing the students had to focus on important aspects such as factual information finding main ideas and finding detailed information. Post-viewing activity was conducted by giving the students the graphic organizer (reference frame) to make a summary. The range of post-viewing activities was enormous and included things such as discussion writing activities and related reading. The findings of the study show that the teaching of reading by using the Videocast can improve the students reading skills. The improvement can be seen in the increased score of the students reading from the preliminary study and the score after the implementation of the teaching of reading by using the Videocast in Cycle 1. The students average score in the preliminary study was 44.68 while the average score in the end of implementation of this study was 70.00. More specifically there were 28 students (87.50 %) who got higher than or equal to 60 in the end of the study while in the preliminary study 6 of the students (18.75 %) got the score higher or equal to 60. Despite the score of the students improvement in reading skill the findings also indicate that the students had positive responses and were actively involved in the teaching of reading by using the Videocast. The students involvement in first and second meeting was 73.21% while in the third and fourth meeting was 78.26%. Based on the findings of the above study some suggestions for English teachers and future researchers are made as follows. For teacher due to the fact that the Videocast from the Internet gives positive impact toward the students reading comprehension and the students involvement in the teaching and learning process the researcher suggests the English teachers to implement the teaching of reading by using the Videocast. The teachers should provide a variety of appropriate materials according to the students level and provide various strategies in order to improve the learning process and the results. In addition the duration and content of the Videocast and the readability of the text should be appropriate with the students level. For future researchers the implementation of the use of the Videocast from the Internet can be used to teach reading not only for the descriptive text but also for other text types such as narrative recount and the rest. It is also suggested to conduct the same research about the implementation of using the Videocast in teaching reading with different setting and subject for the improvement of students reading ability in other level of study to see whether the use of the Videocast is applicable and effective for improving the students reading comprehension achievement.
