Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas delapan MTsN Lakudo dalam menulis paragraf dengan menggunakan Pendekatan Menulis Proses. Pendekatan ini dipilih berdasarkan kelebihannya dalam memotivasi siswa untuk lebih terlibat aktif dalam proses pembelajaran sehingga kemampuan mereka dalam menulis paragraf recount meningkat. Oleh karena itu rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah Bagaimana Pendekatan Menulis Proses bisa digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas delapan MTsN Lakudo dalam menulis paragraf Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut penelitian tindakan kelas dengan sistem kolaborasi diimplementasikan dengan 4 langkah yaitu perencanaan pelaksanaan observasi dan refleksi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam tiga siklus. Tiap siklus terdiri atas dua pertemuan. Pada siklus pertama tahap pramenulis tahap menulis tahap menulis kembali dan tahap akhir menulis diajarkan sekaligus dalam setiap kali pertemuan. Dan pada siklus kedua dan ketiga tahap pramenulis dan menulis diajarkan pada pertemuan pertama dan tahap menulis kembali dan akhir menulis diajarkan pada pertemuan kedua. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 23 siswa kelas VIII A MTsN Lakudo tahun pelajaran 2007/2008. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam mengumpulkan data terdiri atas lembaran format pengamatan catatan lapangan rubrik penilian dan lembaran wawancara untuk siswa. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis untuk memperoleh hasil penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa prosedur yang digunakan adalah (1) melibatkan siswa dalam kegiatan brainstorming sebelum mereka memilih topik (2) mengarahkan siswa dalam kegiatan clustering sebelum mereka menulis draf awal (3) membimbing dan memonitor siswa dalam mengembangkan dan mengatur ide-ide mereka (4) memberikan dan menjelaskan suatu model teks kepada siswa sebelum mereka menulis draf kasar (5) menyuruh siswa untuk menuangkan ide-ide mereka ke dalam kalimat dan menyusunnya ke dalam suatu draf kasar (6) menyuruh siswa merevisi isi dan organisasi draf mereka (7) menyuruh siswa menulis draf pertama (8) menyuruh siswa bekerja dalam kelompok untuk mendiskusikan draf dan merevisi draf teman mereka (9) menyuruh siswa untuk melakukan konfrensi kecil dengan temannya (10) melakukan konfrensi kecil dengan siswa (11) menyuruh siswa untuk menyunting tulisan mereka yang berhubungan dengan masalah mekanik (12) menyuruh siswa untuk menulis karangan akhir mereka dan (13) menyuruh siswa ke depan kelas untuk membaca tulisan akhir mereka dan teman mereka. Selanjutnya hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Pendekatan Menulis Proses telah meningkatkan kemampuan siswa kelas VIII A MTsN Lakudo dalam menulis paragraf recount. Peningkatan itu ditandai oleh peningkatan nilai rata-rata menulis siswa dari 41 2 pada tes awal 59 6 pada siklus pertama 64 4 pada siklus kedua menjadi 70 2 pada siklus ketiga. Di samping itu siswa antusias bersemangat dan terlibat aktif dalam proses belajar mengajar dengan menggunakan Pendekatan Menulis Proses ----------------------------- This study is aimed at improving the ability of eighth grade students of MTsN Lakudo in writing paragraph by using Process Writing Approach. This approach is chosen based on its strength in encouraging students to be more actively involved in teaching and learning process with the intention that their ability in writing recount paragraph increases. Consequently the research problem formulated in this research is How can Process Writing Approach be used to improve the ability of the eighth grade students of MTsN Lakudo in writing paragraphs To achieve the purpose a collaborative classroom action research was employed following four stages planning implementing observing and reflecting. This study was implemented in three cycles. Each cycle consisted of two meetings. In the first cycle the prewriting writing rewriting and post-writing stages were incorporated in every meeting. However in the second and third cycles the prewriting and writing stages were included in the first meetings of both cycles and rewriting and post writing stages were included in the second meetings of both cycles. The subjects of the research were 23 students of grade VIII A of MTsN Lakudo in 2007/2008 academic year. The instruments employed for collecting the data were observation checklists field notes a scoring guide and interview guides for the students. The data were analyzed to obtain the findings of the research. The findings of the study exposed that the appropriate models used in Process Writing Approach consisted of the following procedures (1) involving students in brainstorming activity before they choose their topics (2) directing students in clustering activity before they write their first drafts (3) guiding and monitoring students in generating and organizing their ideas (4) giving and explaining a model of text (5) asking the students to put down their ideas into sentences and arrange them in a rough draft (6) asking the students to revise the content and organization of their draft (7) having students write their first draft (8) assigning students to work in groups to discuss their draft and to revise their friends drafts (9) having students hold mini-conference with their friends and the teacher (10) having students rewrite their draft and exchange it with their friends (peer editing) (11) asking students to edit the mechanical aspects (12) asking students to write their final writing and (13) having students read aloud their own final writing and their friends final writing. Furthermore the results of the study revealed that the Process Writing Approach had improved the writing ability of the eighth grade students of MTsN Lakudo in writing recount paragraphs. The improvement was indicated by the increase of students average writing scores from 41.2 in preliminary test 59.6 in the first cycle 64.4 in the second cycle to 70.2 in the third cycle. Besides the results of the study showed that the students were enthusiastic motivated and actively involved in teaching and learning process using Process Writing Approach.
