Abstract

ABSTRACT Mujianto 2007. Improvement the Ability of Report Writing Base on Teaching Portfolio for Chemical Engineering Major s Student of State Polytechnic of Malang. Thesis Is Not Published Education Program of Indonesian Language Postgraduate Program State University of Malang. Counselors (I) Prof. Dr.H.Suparno (II) Dr. Sumadi M.Pd Key words Report Writing Teaching Portfolio This research surrounded by condition ability report writing major s student of Chemical Engineering of State Polytechnic of Malang that is still low. On the other hand the ability of report writing for Chemical engineering major student is importance vitally because most of the lesson in the form of practicum lesson obliging to student to write report by the end of practicum. One case that the ability writing is low of this report is studying strategy in lecturing Tata Tulis Laporan (Indonesian Language) which tending to orients at language theory study non-language usage. especially in writing skill aspect. Therefore needs existence of repair effort of studying strategy that could improve the ability of report writing for Chemical engineering major s student one of study strategy expected able to increase ability of writing report is teaching portfolio. The research problem is how to improve the ability of report writing from pre-writing writing and post-writing through teaching portfolio for Chemical Engineering major s student of State Polytechnic of Malang. Thereby this research aim to increase the ability of report writing for Chemical Engineering major s student of state Polytechnic of Malang through teaching portfolio. This research executed with qualitative approach with class action research designing. The data in this research was the implematation of the improvement ability of report writing base on teaching portfolio. The data obtained with observation and document technique. In this research the researcher as key instrument assisted with instrument of supporter in the form of observation guidance questionary guidance and guidance of document analysis. The result of this research indicates that the teaching portfolio can increase the ability of report writing for Chemical Engineering major s student of State Polytechnic Malang. This improvement can be looked from process aspect with indicator existence of enthusiastic improvement. The Corporation form. In addition student liveliness from study cycles I to study cycle II. Besides the improvement of report writing ability also seen from product aspect with indicator improvement s existence of ability at each step-writing product from cycle I to cycle II. Writing ability improvement of student report can happened because study which executed entangles student actively co-operative (in the form of group discussion). In addition participatory in all learning writes report process namely starts with preparation phase to write writing phase and finalization phase. Meanwhile assessment model applied is assessment of process and assessment result of learning base on teaching portfolio. Based on the research result suggested to the lecturer Polytechnic to improve the strategy of studying which can motivate in learning enthusiastically the forming of corporation activity between related parties and liveliness of student in all study process. Side that form of assessment applied is assessment of process and result. This thing is very relevant with Polytechnic education because most of the lesson in the form of practicum lesson which apply the assessment importance of practicum process and practicum result. For the majors chief suggested giving opportunity to the lecturer always to increase the study strategy of improvement usage of student ability. For the next researcher suggested performing the research with the same studying model for similar lesson.
