ABSTRAK Pattiasina Petrus Jacob 2017. Representasi Simbol Verbal Gerejawi dalam Tuturan Kebaktian Jemaat Gereja Protestan Maluku Halong. Disertasi Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia Pascasarjana Universitas Negeri Malang. Pembimbing (1) Prof. Dr. Djoko Saryono M.Pd (2) Prof. Dr. Maryaeni M.Pd (3) Dr. Mudjianto M.Pd Kata Kunci Representasi simbol simbol gerejawi tuturan kebaktian interaksi simbolik Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh realitas bahwa penggunaan simbol gerejawi dalam tuturan sering ditemui dalam suatu kegiatan keagamaan. Simbol-simbol tersebut digunakan dalam kebaktian terutama simbol tuturan yang disampaikan oleh para pemimpin maupun umat gereja yang terlibat di dalamnya. Simbol-simbol yang digunakan pada umumnya berhubungan dengan cara penyampaian dan pengajaran kepada umat atau bahkan diskusi yang dilakukan dalam suatu kegiatan kebaktian. Penelitian ini secara umum berfokus pada representasi simbol verbal gerejawi yang digunakan dalam kebaktian Jemaat Gereja Protestan Maluku Halong. Secara khusus pada (1) bentuk simbol verbal gerejawi dalam tuturan kebaktian meliputi Simbol verbal tuturan kebaktian berupa kata kalimat dan simbol berupa gaya bahasa. (2) Makna simbol verbal gerejawi dalam tuturan kebaktian meliputi makna religius etis estetis dan filosofis. (3) Fungsi simbol verbal gerejawi dalam tuturan kebaktian meliputi fungsi direktif partisipasi mediasi dan pengetahuan dan sosial Pendekatan penelitian kualitif digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan jenis penelitiannya yaitu semiotik dan interaksi simbolik dan digunakan untuk menganalisis dan menginterpretasikan semua aspek yang diteliti. Data penelitian ini adalah data tuturan verbal yang disampaikan oleh pemimpin ibadah maupun umat yang hadir dalam suatu acara kebaktian. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah umat atau jemaat yang terlibat dalam kegiatan kebaktian. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa bentuk simbol verbal gerejawi dalam tuturan kebaktian jemaat Gereja Protestan Maluku Halong berbentuk diksi meliputi simbol gelar yang diberikan kepada orang objek pribadi Tuhan. Simbol tindakan merupakan representasi apa yang telah dilakukan Tuhan kepada umat melalui pemeliharaan dan penjagaannya. Selanjutnya Simbol sifat yang ditunjukkkan baik oleh umat maupun oleh Tuhan yang disembah. Ditemukan pula gaya bahasa yang digunakan dalam simbol verbal tuturan kebaktian meliputi gaya bahasa personifikasi simile dan metafora. Makna simbol varbal gerejawi ditemukan makna religius/teologia menunjukkan hubungan antara manusia dengan Tuhan hubungan antara manusia dengan sesama manusia hubungan antara manusia dengan alam lingkungannya dan hubungannya dengan diri sendiri. Makna simbol etis meliputi tindakan baik buruk yang dilakukan oleh umat baik sengaja maupun tidak disengaja. Makna simbol estetis menunjukan kepraktisan yang dilakukan setiap orang apa yang dilakukan harus konsisten dan sejalan dengan yang dikatakan. Fungsi simbol verbal gerejawi dalam tuturan kebaktian menunjukkkan fungsi direktif berupa tuturan melarang mengajak menasihati dan bertanya. Selain itu simbol tuturan gerejawi juga memiliki fungsi partisipasi yang dikategorikan menjadi fungsi simbol vertikal dan horisontal. Selanjutnya fungsi pengetahuan yang didistribusikan secara sosial dan yang berhubungan dengan pikiran atau gagasan pengguna simbol. Fungsi mediasi yang ditunjukkan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan hidup jemaat sebagai pengguna simbol. Fungsi sosial berupa simbol tolong-menolong suka memberi tidak mementingkan diri sendiri gotong royong dan saling menghormati. Fungsi simbol sosial ini harus ditumbuhkembangkan karena sesuai dengan ajaran kristen yaitu kasih. Simpulan penelitian ini bahwa bentuk simbol tuturan verbal gerejawi berupa simbol murni kekristenan dan simbol lokal sesuai budaya setempat. Penggunaan dan pemilihan simbol yang sesuai konteks akan memperlancar komunikasi dalam suatu ritual kebaktian. Fungsi simbol verbal gerejawi bermuara pada kelembutan simbol dalam kehidupan sosial umat/jemaat. These symbols are used in worship services especially symbols of speech delivered by leaders and churchgoers who are involved. The symbols used are generally related to the way of delivering and teaching to the people or even discussions conducted in a worship service. This research generally focuses on the representation of ecclesiastical verbal symbols used in the Protestant Church of Maluku Halong congregation. Specifically on (1) the form of ecclesiastical verbal symbols in the worship service including verbal symbols of worship services in the form of words sentences and symbols in the style of language. (2) The meaning of ecclesiastical verbal symbols in the worship service including religious ethical aesthetic and philosophical meanings. (3) The function of ecclesiastical verbal symbols in the worship service includes the function of directive participation mediation and knowledge and social. A qualitative research approach is used in this research with the type of research that is semiotic and symbolic interaction and used to analyze and interpret all aspects studied. The data of this research is verbal speech data delivered by the worship leader and the people who attend in a worship service. The source of this research data is the people or congregations involved in the worship service. The results of this study indicate that the form of ecclesiastical verbal symbols in the worship service congregation of the Protestant Church of Maluku Halong is in diction including the title symbol given to the person the object the person of God. The action symbol is a representation of what God has done to the people through his care and guarding. Furthermore the symbol of the nature shown both by the people and by the worshiped God. The language style used in the verbal symbols of worship services includes the style of personification simile and metaphor. The meaning of the ecclesiastical varbal symbol found in the religious/ theological sense shows the relationship between man and God the relationship between man and his fellow human beings the relationship between man and his natural environment and his relationship with himself. The meaning of ethical symbols involves good actions performed by the people either intentionally or unintentionally. The meaning of aesthetic symbols indicates the practicality that everyone does what is done must be consistent and in line with what is said. The function of the ecclesiastical verbal symbol in the worship service indicates the directive function in the form of speech prohibiting inviting advising and asking. In addition ecclesiastical symbols also have participation functions that are categorized into vertical and horizontal symbol functions. Furthermore the function of knowledge is distributed socially and related to the thoughts or ideas of symbol users. The mediation function shown to meet the needs of the congregation as a symbol user. Social function of symbols of help-help giving selflessness mutual cooperation and mutual respect. The function of this social symbol must be developed because it is in accordance with the Christian doctrine of love. The conclusion of this research is that the symbol form of ecclesiastical verbal speech is a pure symbol of Christianity and local symbols according to local culture. The use and selection of symbols that fit the context will facilitate communication in a worship ritual. The function of ecclesiastical verbal symbols leads to the tenderness of symbols in the social life of people / congregations. Suggestions to further researchers are expected to examine various aspects that have not been revealed through this research.
