Abstract

Keywords Interest in learning geography students Teams Games Tournament The result of initial observations and interview in class VIII A SMP Negeri 2 Dagangan Kabupaten Madiun shown and interviews in class VIII A SMP Negeri 2 Dagangan Kabupaten Madiun at low geography lessons. It is shown by the students on subjects of interest in 47 62% and enjoyment of geography students on the subject of geography 48 91%. This study aims to enhance students interest on the subject of geography class VIII A SMP Negeri 2 Dagangan Kabupaten Madiun by implementing cooperative learning models Teams Games Tournament (TGT). Cooperative learning Teams Games Tournament (TGT) in this study applied to the material class VIII A first semester at the Indonesian position indicators seasonal changes distribution of land the spread of flora dan fauna and the state of population in Indonesia. Students interest was measured by two indicators of interest are interest and pleasure. To measure the students used the instrument interest guidelines for interviews and observation sheet. Guidelines for student interviews were analyzed using a percentage formula while interest observation sheet was analyzed by using the formula of success measures. The study was conducted in SMP Negeri 2 Dagangan Kabupaten Madiun starting on July 17 until August 3 2010. The research design used in a classroom action research was conducted using two cycles where each cycle includes the activities of planning execution observation and reflection. The subject of this research is VIII A grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Dagangan Kabupaten Madiun total of 33 students. Analysis of data used is the percentage formula and successful action. The results of this study show that an increase in student interest in geography from subjects before after the implementation of the first cycle and after the implementation of the second cycle. Increasing students interest in geography lesson was seen from the increased percentage each indicator that increase students interest. Based on these results it can be concluded that cooperative learning model Tournament Games Teams (TGT) can increase students interest on the subjects of geography class VIII A SMP Negeri 2 Dagangan Kabupaten Madiun. After the study suggested that teachers implement appropriate learning model on the material being taught toenhance students learning interests.
