Puppeteer mask is one of the arts that are in Sumenep. This art form is called Mask Puppeteer because the storyline was delivered by a puppeteer except semar called clown. Mask mastermind in every pementasannya there are six sections namely 1) Introduction 2) Deny Moang Dance 3.) Dancing Princess Twins 4.)Dance Son Twins 5.)performances and 6.) The story that brought puppeteer. This art is performed in a variety of events such as slametan content rokatan circumcision mamapar and tourism event in commemoration of the anniversary of Sumenep. Local knowledge is a value that is believed to be good and right by the public so that it can survive for a long time. The value of local knowledge contained in the art that the mastermind behind the mask of moral values philosophy religious and aesthetic / beauty. Efforts to preserve this art from extinction done steps by various parties especially by the government and society. This study was conducted based on the formulation of the problem that there are among others (1) History mask mastermind Sumenep (2) expression and performance in the arts mask mastermind (3) the values of local wisdom contained in the mask mastermind Sumenep (4) attempts to preserving mask mastermind and (5) challenges and solutions to preserve the art masks mastermind. The approach used in this research is descriptive-qualitative approach. To achieve these objectives the data collected by participant observation documentation and interview studies. To maintain the validity of the data carried out observations extension activities improving persistence and triangulation of data. The study was conducted in villages Braji sub Gate Sumenep with the object of research is the mastermind behind the mask art community Pillars Braji work Ki puppeteer artist Sumenep Elders mask department of tourism and culture Sumenep. Research findings indicate that the origin of art masks mastermind was first born in the village of ProppoPamekasan by King MenakSenaya and then developed in Sumenep. Form of display or performance of the mask art mastermind namely 1.) Introduction 2) Deny Moang Dance 3.) Dancing Princess Twins 4.)Dance Son Twins 5.)performances and 6.) The story that brought puppeteer. The values of local wisdom in the mask mastermind that moral values philosophy religious and aesthetic. Efforts to preserve this art from extinction done by government measures like taking this art to perform at major events and community efforts by making a mask mastermind as CLT. Based on these results it can be suggested order for further research so that more people understand the meaning of the content contained in any culture that is owned by Sumenep especially in the arts mask mastermind and also how to maintain and preserve the local culture or region in a sustainable manner so as not to run over by globalization.
