Advisors (I) Dr. Mit Witjaksono MS. Ed. (II) Dr. Imam Mukhlis SE. Msi Keywords Prospect Rattan Industry Center Entrepreneur There is no specific information regarding to the first built of rattan industry center but certainly the skill of rattan crafting exist for generation since the colonialism. The rattan industry once achieved their golden era on 1980 1990 where at that time the production employment and the export was increase significantly. As time went by the economic crises happened in Indonesia on 1997 it slowly decrease the activity of rattan industry in Malang. Rattan industry Balearjosari is one of industry centers located on Balearjosari Street Satria and Pahlawan in the same village. This industry is a labor intensive industry which means that it employs human resources for their whole production process. In indicates that each industry does employment. There are two kinds of entrepreneurs of rattan industry they are merchant and craftsmen. The production site and the industry center are in the same village Kelurahan Balearjosari where we can see several of them along the way of Jalan Raya Balearjosari Jalan Satria and Jalan pahlawan. In the industry center the merchant line neatly and produce various kinds of rattan craft. They are good partners they share information to each other related to the up date of the rattan craft. Thus the newest model will be easily developed. Also the market demand is one of the encouragements for the entrepreneurs to keep producing the crafts. They help to each other by sharing the needs material tools and equipments and marketing. Beside the industry center they also sell the craft to out of towns and countries. Rattan industry center is a very potential place which attracts people to purchase the crafts and it is also bring this rattan industry center in Balearjosari to the public. The purpose of the study was to determine the prospect of rattan industry over years. Besides the study was to determine the effort of the craftsmen to develop their business in order to make the business as a bigger center. The study is a qualitative descriptive study. The descriptive study employed to collect information related to status or the existing social trend. Meanwhile the qualitative was conducted by noting and observing facts. Also the data collection can be conducted by any settings sources and ways. Therefore the data should be valid and accurate. The researcher is the instrument of the study. Meanwhile data triangulation was conducted to maintain the data validity. The data analysis covers data review identification classification and evaluation. According to the result of the data analysis it can be concluded that the production of the rattan industries is relatively similar to each other. It is due to the skill they got for generations since the colonialism. The model of the rattan craft is relatively the same from time to time. The newest generation preserves the model of the first made crafts. The prospect of the rattan industry seems so bright in the future. It based on the craftsmen optimism who considers the rattan industry will be eternal for generations.
