ABSTRACT Santoso Heri. 2009. Learning Result Using Microsoft Power Point Media and Work Card Media on Economic Subject for IX Graders of State Junior High School (SMP Negeri ) 1 Malang. Thesis. Keywords Work Card Media and Microsoft Power Point Media Using Learning Result. Based the research that has been conducted in SMP Negeri 1 Malang the common problem faced in a learning is the student s activeness which has not been normally oriented there is a less joyful learning and the lack of student ability in understanding learning materials which are presented by the teacher. Therefore in economic learning we need to design an instructional media which can establish an active creative effective yet joyful learning for the students. One of the ways is conducting learning which uses Work Card and Microsoft Power Point media. Work Card medium is a medium implemented in learning activity as guidance in learning this card contains pictures used as student s pre- knowledge digger tool assignment for the students a how to accomplish the assignment feedback resource and enforcement for students. While the Microsoft Power Point is an application program for presentation which is included as one of the Microsoft s application programs under Microsoft Office and it is used in learning process. The research aims are 1) knowing the learning result on economic subject using Work Card media in SMP Negeri 1 Malang 2) knowing the learning result on economic subject using Microsoft Power Point media in SMP Negeri 1 Malang 3) knowing the difference(s) on economic learning result between students who are taught using Work Card media and those who receive learning using Microsoft Power Point media in SMP Negeri 1 Malang. The research population is the whole students of SMP Negeri 1 Malang its sample is IX A graders and IX E graders which each of those two classes has 39 students. The research design is artificial experimental design. The technique of the data analysis used for assessing the learning result takes the mean of the gain score the test score is measured using SPSS software. Then it compares the learning result between the experiment class and the controlling class taking the t- test standard. The research result shows that 1) the Microsoft Power Point media can enhance students learning result as the initial score average was 49.359 became 93.719 2) the Work Card media improves the students learning result as the initial score average shows 49.487 then reaches 86.794 3) the use of Microsoft Power Point media is more effective compared to the Work Card media as the gain score average counts as many as 44.359 which proved to be higher than the gain score average in the experiment class which counts as many as 37.307. This can be justified based on the analysis on the t-test result (independent sample test) which shows that the tvalue 3.367 ttable 1.992 hence the H0 is refused while the H1 is accepted. Based on the research result we can conclude that there is indeed a difference on the learning result between IX graders of SMP Negeri 1 Malang who are taught using Microsoft Power Point media and those IX graders of the SMP Negeri 1 Malang who are taught using Work Card media in the chapter the economic cooperation between a country and another . Some suggestions recommended by the researcher are 1) the Microsoft Power Point learning media can be applied as one of the learning media alternatives to reduce the student s boredom by adjusting the presented learning materials since the Microsoft Power Point media will be more effective if it is applied in a material which needs some animations to make it more interesting 2) in using Microsoft Power Point media the teacher should prepare the supporting facilities such as computer LCD projector and the layout of the room before the students enter the room 3) in measuring the learning result in this research the researcher only focuses on the cognitive realm therefore for further research we suggest to measure the three realms including the cognitive affective and psychomotor in class school and proper materials based on the applied media.
