Abstract

One of the basic programming subjects taught to vocational students is web programming. However conventional learning media is often an obstacle due to the lack of students rsquo motivation to learn web programming. To overcome this problem a gamification-based interactive coding media with website media was developed in web programming subjects. The purpose of this research is to design and implement interactive coding with a gamification approach to evaluate the extent to which student learning motivation in web programming subjects has increased. This research uses research and development method with the design thinking development model. The design of developmental product trials effectively utilizes descriptive design methodology primarily through a focus on needs analysis and field testing. This approach is supported by descriptive methods and techniques that analyze and evaluate design performance ensuring that needs analysis is thoroughly addressed. This research involved material experts and media experts as product validators as well as 31 students of SMK Telkom Malang as test subjects and product applications. The results obtained show the feasibility of the product based on the assessment criteria from material experts and media experts getting a percentage value of 86.67% including good criteria and 90.40% in very good criteria and the results of learning motivation trials getting a percentage value of 72.81% which is included in the high category. Based on this research this shows that the learning media on the Edmon website is declared feasible to use in the learning process for students to determine the level of learning motivation.
