Abstract

Students in senior high school have struggled with low listening abilities which is a main issue that majority of students faced. Two EFL teachers at MA Hamid Rusydi used instructional media in the form of a facilitated model that involved teaching using the three-phase technique to overcome students rsquo low listening skills. The purpose of this study was to investigate EFL teachers in using the three-phase technique of teaching listening using instructional media. The method employed in the study was a multiple case study. The research subjects were two English teachers at MA Hamid Rusydi. In this study observation checklist and interviews were utilized as the instruments. The result of this study showed that two EFL teachers applied the three-phase technique of teaching listening differently by using instructional media. In this research also explored about how teachers faced challenges and benefits of using instructional media in teaching listening.
