Grammar-checking tools have been popular to address writing problems and help students improve the quality of their writing especially in grammar. It is thus critical to research the relationship between the frequency of using Grammarly and the accuracy of students thesis writing to shed light on the potential benefits and drawbacks of using Grammarly as a writing tool in academic environments. This study aimed to determine if the two variables were correlated. A quantitative methodology was implemented in this study under a correlative research design. The total respondents who completed the questionnaire were 63 English Language Education students of Universitas Negeri Malang who enrolled in the 2017 2018 and 2019 academic years respectively. Then 36 respondents were asked to provide their thesis drafts for further analysis. The data were analyzed using a statistical test with the SPSS 25 software program to determine the correlation of the two variables. The findings show that there is no relationship between the two variables. The researchers suggest that if the teachers want to implement Grammarly they should use it in a more balanced way. Future researchers should explore other similar tools that potentially improve the mechanics and accuracy of English students in thesis writing.
