This research analyzed the students rsquo perception on their habit of listening English songs through Spotify and its contribution toward their vocabulary mastery among English Language Education (ELE) freshmen at Universitas Negeri Malang. The research aims to explore students listening habits by measuring their frequency and interest and their perceptions of how this activity contributes to vocabulary learning. Employing a quantitative-methods approach it utilizes both quantitative (via questionnaires) and qualitative (through semi-structured interviews) data collection. Participants are selected through purposive sampling with data gathered and analyzed using questionnaire. Findings reveal that ELE freshmen frequently listen to English songs on Spotify and use dictionaries to understand lyrics reflecting a strong engagement with the medium. Students perceive this practice as beneficial for vocabulary enhancement noting that it aids in both direct and contextual learning of new words. Future research should consider a larger sample size and examine the correlation between listening habits and measurable vocabulary achievements.
