Recently the multilingual ideology has spread widely. This was caused by the existence of many languages used by many people whether passively or actively. The current situation triggered the suitable learning and teaching approach to accommodate classroom students from different language backgrounds. Therefore Traslanguaging pedagogy answered this case notably as this was inextricably linked to the learning and teaching process in the classroom. Translanguaging functioned as the learning and teaching approach to leverage students rsquo linguistics repertoire to learn the target language for instance English. Learning the English language in the classroom would be a burden because students with lower proficiency did not comprehend the materials due to language delimitation. Therefore this study explored lecturers rsquo perceptions of translanguaging including their awareness of the factors benefits and challenges involved in implementing it. This research employed a narrative inquiry design conducted in a private university in Pamekasan East Java Indonesia. The research participants were two English lecturers who were chosen based on the participants rsquo characteristics their availability and their willingness. In the data collection the researcher used two research instruments pre- and post-interview guidelines and classroom observation checklists which two experts validated. First and foremost the researcher conducted the interview twice. The researcher conducted a pre-interview and the second interview was conducted after the classroom observation. Then the classroom observation was done directly after the first interview to see and fit the lecturers rsquo answers with the concrete practice of Translanguaging in the classroom. The second interview was conducted during the rest of the data collection because the post-interview guideline reconfirmed and assured the pre-interview answers and the classroom observation. The finding revealed that the lecturers were not aware of the term Translanguaging. They only familiarized themselves with terms such as ldquo code-switching rdquo or ldquo code-mixing rdquo in the language and teaching learning. After giving them the gist of Translanguaging pedagogy they argued and stated that they implemented it in their classroom. Besides their awareness the current research findings also unveiled the factors of the translanguaging pedagogy used by lecturers. Then those factors varied from Andre rsquo s perspective he implemented Translanguaging due to the students rsquo input students rsquo home language and Indonesian language as the tool to bridge both students having high or low English proficiency levels to gain the learning objectives etc. Besides from Lusiana rsquo s perspective she used translanguaging due to some background such as students rsquo family background and senior high school background students rsquo inability to comprehend the English language etc. The benefits and challenges from both Andre rsquo s and Lusiana rsquo s perspectives were found in the current research. Moreover the current study also explored the concrete implementation of translanguaging in the classroom through direct observation. The findings gave the actual practice of how the lecturers practiced translanguaging. Thus the lecturers rsquo answers in the interview session and classroom observation results provided balanced points. Apart from the current research findings this study has some limitations such as the number of research participants and the data collection tool. For future research this study suggested that the number of participants could be more than two participants. The current research used only two participants from 8 lecturers as the participant population due to participants rsquo willingness and availability. This happened because the population of the current research was lacking. After all the research setting was in a rural area with limited English lectures. Therefore selecting the participants rsquo setting also becomes the pivotal determination while conducting the research. The future research will probably choose the urban area as the research setting. Besides the data collection tool could added by another instrument such as a questionnaire to easily measure the data and give a more vigorous data display.
