Proses pembelajaran di kelas memiliki peranan sangat penting dalam upaya penerapan tujuan pembelajaran dan peningkatan hasil belajar. Guru hendaknya memilih dan menentukan metode pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan materi dan bahan ajar yang akan diberikan kepada siswa. Pemilihan dan penggunaan metode pembelajaran yang sesuai dengan karakteristik materi atau bahan ajar yang akan diajarkan diharapkan akan memudahkan siswa untuk memahami materi yang akan diajarkan dan pembelajaran menjadi lebih bermakna bagi siswa yang diajar. Oleh karena itu diterapkan metode numbered head together pada mata pelajaran ekonomi guna meningkatkan motivasi aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) Mendeskripsikan penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif dengan metode numbered heads together pada materi neraca pembayaran internasional yang dapat meningkatkan motivasi aktivitas dan hasil belajar 2) mengetahui peningkatan motivasi aktivitas dan hasil belajar setelah diterapkan metode numbered heads together pada materi neraca pembayaran internasional. Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui 1) tes 2) observasi 3) wawancara 4) angket 5) rubrik 6) dokumentasi 7) catatan lapangan. Penelitian tindakan yang dilaksanakan terdiri dari 2 siklus. Model pembelajaran kooperatif tersebut dilaksanakan dalam tiga tahap yaitu tahap awal tahap inti dan tahap akhir. Tahap awal mencakup (1) kegiatan pendahuluan yaitu penyampaian kompetensi dasar pemberian motivasi berupa informasi pentingnya materi. (2) membentuk kelompok disertai dengan pemberian nomor. Kegiatan pada tahap akhir mencakup (1) melakukan refleksi dan evaluasi bersama (2) menutup seperti meminta siswa mengatur tempat duduk ke tempat semula dan mengucapkan salam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran kooperatif numbered heads together dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa kelas XI IPS 1 Akuntansi di SMA Lab UM Malang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian maka disarankan berbagai hal yang patut menjadi perhatian berbagai pihak yaitu 1)Pembelajaran numbered heads together merupakan metode pembelajaran yang sangat bagus untuk meningkatkan keaktifan siswa di kelas untuk pokok bahasan lain atau mata pelajaran lain selain ekonomi-akuntansi. 2)Untuk kesempurnaan penerapan metode pembelajaran numbered heads together maka harus disediakan alokasi waktu yang cukup agar tidak mengurangi tahap berpikir dan menjawab siswa. 3)Untuk peneliti selanjutnya hendaknya membuat variasi metode pembelajaran dengan memadukan metode pembelajaran numbered head together dengan metode yang lain. Keywords cooperative learning structural numbered heads together method motivation activity and learning result Learning process in class has a very important role in the effort to implement learning objective and learning result improvement. Teacher should choose and define the proper learning method which suits the learning materials delivered to the students. The choosing and using a suitable learning method that matches the presented material or instructional characteristic is expected to enable the students to understand the material easier and make the learning process more meaningful for the participating student. Thus the numbered heads together method is implemented in economic class which can improve motivation activity and learning result of the students. This research aims to 1) describe the cooperative learning implementation using numbered heads together method in balance of international payment subject which can improve motivation activity and learning result 2) know the motivation activity and learning result improvement after the numbered heads together method is implemented in the balance of international payment subject. The research data are collected through 1) test 2) observation 3) interview 4) questionnaire 5) rubric 6) documentation 7) field note. This is an action research consisting of 2 cycles. The cooperative learning model is executed in the stages initial stage core stage and final stage. The initial stage includes (1) preliminary activity presenting the basic competence motivation support in the form of information about the importance of the material (2) arrange some group and give the number for the each group. The final stage includes (1) conducting a reflection and evaluation together (2) closing such as asking the students to rearrange the seats as they are before and say a closing regard. The research result shows that cooperative learning using numbered heads together method can improve the learning result of XI graders of social science in accounting program class 1 at the SMA Lab UM (Laboratory High School of State University of Malang). Based on this result we suggest some proper things to be considered by some relevant parties which are 1) Numbered heads together learning method is an excellent learning method in improving student s activity in class for any other subject matters even other than economic accounting 2) to make the implementation of numbered heads together method perfect there should be allocated a sufficient time to avoid thinking phase answering phase reduction among the students. 3) for further research suppose it makes some variation in learning method by integrating the numbered heads together method with the other method.
