Abstract

Fanfiction is fan-created fiction based on the original work of existing characters such as artists fictitious characters from novels or comic books video game characters and so on. When engaging in the activity of reading fanfiction readers often express their attitude and interest. The reading attitude refers to an individual rsquo s feelings towards reading which influence their inclination to develop or avoid favourable reading habits. While reading interest refers to the degree to which an individual experiences enthusiasm and satisfaction when engaging in reading materials along with the pleasure of discovering new knowledge. individual attitudes and interest towards reading fanfiction have correlation with the development of students rsquo reading comprehension ability. To better understand the correlation between K-Pop fanfiction students rsquo reading attitude with their reading comprehension ability and K-pop fanfiction students rsquo reading interest with their reading comprehension ability this study employed Pearson rsquo s product-moment. While to find out the correlation between K-Pop fanfiction students rsquo reading attitude and interest with their reading comprehension ability this study used multiple correlations. This study found a positive correlation between K-Pop fanfiction students rsquo reading attitude withreading comprehension ability. There was also a positive correlation between K-Pop fanfiction students rsquo reading interest with their reading comprehension ability. A positive correlation exists between students rsquo reading attitude and interest with their reading comprehension ability. In conclusion the correlation between K-Pop fanfiction students rsquo reading attitude and interest with their reading comprehension ability is positive and significant. Although the results of the correlation are in the medium or moderate category these results can be considered good result. This positive result suggests the provide different reading choices for higher education students. Besides that reading K-Pop fanfiction can enhance the students information and vocabulary in English if the students read fanfiction in English. Further research could expand on this topic by using more than one fandom or recruiting more participants. The further researcher can conduct this research in offline class or setting. Try out all the instrument to ensure that it is appropriate for the target participants. Furthermore teacher and professional educator can continue to encourage their students particularly those in higher education to read what they like in their spare time.
