Information communication and technology (ICT) skills are highlighted in the 21st-century learning framework since it is becoming one the essential elements of education. ICT also provides easy access to learning due to its important contribution to language pedagogy. Students are highly motivated to learn if the teacher incorporates technology into the classroom because the use of ICT in the classroom switches learning environments from teacher-centered to student-centered. Senior teachers with many years of teaching experience are typically unenthusiastic and uncooperative when it comes to technology due to internal and external factors. Internal factors that can hinder ICT use include age gender lack of confidence experience motivation and attitude. Meanwhile the external factors are technology availability access to ICT equipment time to plan lesson activities technical and administrative support curriculum school climate and culture teaching load and routine administration and adequate ICT facilities for teaching and learning. Thus teachers over the age of 36 with many years of teaching experience are more likely to encounter barriers in the integration of ICT during the teaching and learning process in the classroom. However scholars also mentioned that older women (middle-aged) have a strong desire and ability to learn using interactive online teaching media in learning. In this case it can be concluded that elderly women have the opportunity to integrate technology into the classroom learning process. This study aims to describe 34 senior and experienced female English teachers rsquo beliefs and experiences of ICT professional development during their teaching and learning processes. This study reports on 1) participants rsquo awareness of ICT 2) participants rsquo perception of ICT 3) the encouraging and discouraging factors of ICT use for participants 4) problems and solutions of ICT integration for participants rsquo professional development and 5) the impact of peers on participants rsquo improvement of ICT competencies. In order to investigate the beliefs and external along with internal factors on the participants ICT professional development experiences a sequential explanatory design of a mixed-methods approach was used in the study. In the first phase a questionnaire was used as the instrument to discover the participants rsquo beliefs in terms of awareness and perception and categorize participants into satisfactory ICT proficiency and less satisfactory ICT proficiency. The second phase was one-on-one interviews to find further information on the participants rsquo beliefs and experiences on ICT professional development. Data from the questionnaire were analyzed by coding responses to numerical data in excel which was then exported to SPSS 22. The semi-structured one-on-one interview was analyzed using Bengtsson s (2016) deductive content analysis with In Vivo 12 as a tool which uses four stages in its processes including decontextualization recontextualization categorization and compilation. The final result will be presented descriptively and categorized in accordance with the research questions after the four stages of the qualitative data analysis process have been completed. The quantitative and qualitative data are presented to support one another at the conclusion. The results from the two phases show that the use of ICT in the classroom is reported to be well appreciated by senior female EFL teachers both senior teachers with proper ICT proficiency and those who are less proficient in ICT have positive beliefs about the use of technology in education. However there are differences in how they solve internal and external problems and how they perceive guidance from peers and also support from the school environment. There are 7 themes that were generated after 4 stages in the interview analysis process. Those are ICT benefits in education enthusiasm for learning ICT ICT in language pedagogy ICT encouraging factors ICT discouraging factors solutions to ICT issues and community as PD. In addition to further training and specialized programs from the government and universities senior female EFL teachers in this study needed assistance with theoretical and practical ICT abilities. Other external challenges include internet constraints and school-based technological infrastructures. Consequently this issue will restrict the growth of educational performance in Indonesia urgent actions need to be done. This study suggests that the government and universities establish a continuous and specific program designed for seniors particularly female teachers to minimize the external and internal barriers to ICT integration.
