Pre-service Teacher Education (PTE) is a required study program since it is able to prepare the graduate students to become competent and professional teachers. This also applies to other study program in the field of education one of which is English Language Education program. The presence of English language teaching cannot be underestimated since the English Language Education students are prepared adequately to become an English teacher at any various levels of education such as elementary junior high school or high school which are needed by parents. Currently many parents want to prepare their children to be fluent in English since an early age. Therefore the presence of competent and professional English educators is necessary. One of the general requirements is the students must be able to accomplish the study at least a maximum of 8 semesters or 4 years. Nevertheless in recent years a student with reputable and acknowledge academic achievements from English Education study program has been reported not to have accomplished the study yet at 8 semesters or 4 years. Moreover this student is threatened to quit studying because of the maximum study time limit that has been determined. Hence this study has aim to explore the factors inhibiting a high achiever ELE pre-service teacher who failed to accomplish the study at 8 semesters or 4 years in fact a high achiever student should be able to accomplish the study in less than 8 semesters or around 3.5 years. Narrative study was used in this study as a research design since this study has aim to reveal the stories from participant rsquo s experiences in the past present and the expectation for the future. Moreover the participant of this study was a high achiever English Language and Education (ELE) student at one of private universities in East Java who failed to accomplish the study at 8 semesters or 4 years. Semi-structured interview guidelines Narrative Frame Narrative Empty Box academic documents such as academic report of Kartu Hasil Studi (KHS) and certificates were the instruments used for data collection. The research data were taken from the Narrative Frame and Narrative Empty Box which were filled in by the participant. Furthermore the data from Narrative Frame and Narrative Empty Box became the guideline for the interview to be able to provide in-depth interview. Then the interview session was conducted about 30 minutes from the semi-structure interview guidelines. In addition the research data was also supported from other documents such as the academic report and certificates. Moreover those data were analyzed descriptively using codes and themes to be able to interpret the data clearly and details. The study revealed that from the participant rsquo s story it can be concluded that there are three major themes namely causes impacts and solutions. The financial factors and unprofessional lecturers were the main problems. These factors affected the participant rsquo s personality from the highly motivated became demotivated student in accomplishing the study. Moreover those factors also affected to the participant rsquo s mental health so that the participant always isolated herself. Those inhibited factors influenced to the participant rsquo s motivation in finishing her thesis writing. She always postponed her writing over and over again until she was threatened to quit studying because of the time limitation of the study. Moreover after knowing about the information the participant made some strategies to solve the problems. From the findings we can see that the participant asked for a thesis draft from the seniors as the reference in writing a thesis. Moreover the participant contacted to ask for help to the staff of English education study program department to give her chance for accomplishing the study. Furthermore it can be seen that the motivation is also needed to help the participant in accomplishing the study. The findings of this study can be a reference for educators to pay more attention to their students rsquo development process including high achiever students. Then this research also ends with suggestions for future researchers who will conduct research on the same topic by exploring the participant rsquo s stories from a larger sample of participants from other degree levels such as graduate and postgraduate. In addition further researchers can also explore the advisors rsquo experiences in guiding the students who have problems inhibited them in accomplishing the study on time.
