Abstract

Grammar is an important component of English but many students find it difficult to understand including the students at MAN 5 Jombang East Java Indonesia. Therefore the researcher conducted a study to implement the RADEC learning model to improve students grammar mastery in writing interactional transactional text. RADEC learning model is a new learning model made by Indonesians by adjusting the learning situation in Indonesia. This learning model uses the abbreviation of its steps as its name. RADEC stands for Read Anwer Discuss Evaluate and Create. The subject of the study is the students of class IIK at MAN 5 Jombang. This study aims to find out how RADEC can improve the eleventh graders rsquo skill in grammar at MAN 5 Jombang. The design of the study is Collaborative Classroom Action Research. In Cycle I the researcher found that the criteria of success had not been met so the researcher conducted the next cycle. In Cycle II the researcher found that the criteria of success had been met because all students rsquo score were improved at least two points higher from the data in the preliminary study. Based on the findings it is concluded that RADEC learning model can improve students rsquo grammar mastery in writing interactional transactional text.
