Abstract

The widespread availability of mobile devices has significantly changed students reading habits increasing the tendency to perform extensive reading through mobile devices. Among the numerous reading sources available e-books have emerged as an effective choice for facilitating extensive reading. Therefore this study aimed to investigate the perceptions of English Language Education students towards e-book-based extensive reading. The research design employed for this study was a survey design. The respondents of this study were English Language Education students at Universitas Negeri Malang from the 2020 cohort that had already passed the extensive reading course consisting of 35 students as the sample. A descriptive quantitative approach was utilized in this study and analyzed using SPSS version 25. In collecting the data a questionnaire was used as the instrument consisting of 20 statements distributed via Google Forms. The findings revealed that 93.31% of students have positive perceptions of the four indicators interest benefits flexibility and preferences. It can be inferred that English Language Education students attained positive perceptions towards e-book-based extensive reading.
