Abstract

ABSTRACT Ahmadin Faiq. 2009. The Influence of Economic Value Added Residual Income Earnings and Operating Cashflows toward Stock Return . (a Case Study on Manufacturing Companies listed at BEI within periods of 2005-2007). Thesis Management Department Course of S-1 (Bachelor Degree) Management Concentration Majoring in Financial Management Economic Faculty State University of Malang. Advisors 1) Subagyo SE SH M.M 2) Ely Siswanto S.Sos M.M Keywords Economic Value Added residual income earning operating cashflows return. In essence companies performance has quite significant and substantial role for economic decision making to some parties e.g. to Creditors and future prospective Creditors Shareholders Stakeholders and to the Management itself. Prior to do investment by conducting certain valuation and assessment toward companies investors will have valuable references and guides later for their investment decision making. The analysis of EVA residual income earnings and operating cashflows will represent and reflect how significant the companies performance in providing economic value to the company. These analyses will help investors to generate and calculate the expected return they are about to earn from their investment in the future. The purpose of conducting this research is to analyze The Influence of Economic Value Added Residual Income Earnings and Operating Cashflows toward Stock Return in partially of manufacturing companies listed at BEI within period of 2005 2007. The data analysis used is regression analysis supported by SPSS 16.00 for windows with significance level 5%. The research population is manufacturing companies listed at BEI within periods of 2005 2007 which are about 153 companies. The sampling method used is purposive sampling . It is one of sampling methods by choosing subjects based on certain defined purposes. By applying this sampling method the population of 153 companies listed at BEI within period of 2005 2007 is narrowed down to 12 companies. These 12 companies further defined as the research sample. In conclusion the results of this research are (1) In general The Economic Value Added (EVA) Residual Income Earnings and Operating Cashflows of Manufacturing Companies listed at BEI within periods of 2005 2007 are decreasing. Yet in 2007 those variables are increasing (2) There is no partially significant influence of Economic Value Added (EVA) variable to Stock Return of Manufacturing Companies listed at BEI within periods of 2005 2007 (3) There is no partially significant influence of Residual Income variable to Stock Return of Manufacturing Companies listed at BEI within periods of 2005 2007 (4) There is partially significant influence of Earnings variable to Stock Return of Manufacturing Companies listed at BEI within periods of 2005 2007 (5) There is no partially significant influence of Operating Cashflows variable to Stock Return of Manufacturing Companies listed at BEI within periods of 2005 2007 (6) Among other variables the Earnings is the only variable which has significant influence toward Stock Return of Manufacturing Companies listed at BEI within periods of 2005 2007. Some recommendations for further study could be generated as follows (1) Companies should concern any factors influencing their earnings in order to manage and obtain their expected Earning Per Share (EPS) (2) Investors prior to do their investments should consider carefully and review thoroughly the Earnings factor as well other important factors of the companies where they will put the funds.
