Abstract

The advent of technology presents various benefits to educators around the world which makes the education system frequently use technological equipment in various ways especially English learning to be meaningful and achieve academic goals. This article investigates students perception towards using Storyline online as a learning media source for Extensive Listening practice. A total of 34 ELE students in cohort 2019 Universitas Negeri Malang who listened to Extensive Listening for one semester participated in this study. The participants were chosen using purposive sampling. The mixed quantitative and qualitative research method was used in this study. Perceptions from students were collected through questionnaires and interviews. The findings of this study indicate that Storyline Online give positive and negative perspective. The positive perspectives are Storyline Online engaging interesting and suitable for beginner students to be a source that will ensure learning. They also can gain knowledge and better understanding of the English language in areas such as vocabulary and speaking. Participants enjoyed the ability to choose their own listening materials and were able to align them with their individual listening goals and practice. Therefore the method of teaching listening by storyline online appears to be an effective Extensive listening source because that also present much information as an authentic material for students. The negative perspective was faced by students particularly at features on the website and levels of proficiency. Students think that there are features that must be added or need to be developed.
