Abstract

This study investigated English Language Education (ELE) students rsquo perception towards the effects of Extensive reading activities on their reading skills. To collect the data the method used in this study was a survey. The instruments used in this study were a questionnaire to collect the quantitative data and an interview guide to collect the qualitative data. The interview is used to gather further information that would support the result of the questionnaire. This study was conducted on 120 English Language Education 2020 students of Universitas Negeri Malang who have passed the Extensive Reading and Advanced Reading courses. The questionnaire result was calculated and presented in the form of frequency and percentages while the interview result was presented in the form of a narrative. The result of the study shows that extensive reading activities support the students rsquo skills development in reading. Therefore it can be concluded that students rsquo perception toward the effects of Extensive reading activities on their reading skills is mostly positive.
