Abstract

The purpose of this research was to know how the buzz group technique could improve the eighth graders rsquo reading comprehension and to know their response towards the implementation of this technique. The preliminary research of this research showed that the students had problems with reading comprehension known from their score. This research used CAR (Classroom Action Research). This research was done in one cycle which consists of two meetings. The subjects of this research were the eighth graders and consisted of one class with 32 students. Observation sheet interview guide reading tests teacher notes and documentation are the research instruments in this research. The criteria of success were based on the percentage of students who obtain a minimum of 10 points with 75% of the all the students and 80% of students who showed a positive response to the application of this technique. The results of analysis showed that 97% of students surpassed the minimum targeted points and 90% of students showed a positive response to the application of this technique. The results showed that the buzz group technique could improve students rsquo reading comprehension.
