The majority of university students in the English Department struggle to learn English as a Foreign Language. Implementing Extensive Reading (ER) as a course can promote a more prominent impact on EFL learners rsquo target language proficiency as ER will encourage them to be exposed to a lot of English text. The study aimed to investigate students rsquo perceptions of the implementation of an ER course and how it influences their reading habits. The students rsquo perceptions are rarely investigated while their perceptions of what they need and what learning media are useful for them to influence the success of teaching and learning English. A survey study was used as a method in this study. The population was all 2018 cohort and 2020 cohort of English Language Education program students at one public university in Malang who had passed ER courses. The samples of this study were 80 students who were purposely random chosen. The results of the survey showed that the respondents enjoyed the series of reading activities done during the ER course and it is expected that ER practice will continue to be implemented as a course. Students also believe that ER has successfully motivated them to read in English increasing their choices of book topics and reading texts and encouraging them to spend most of their time reading regularly. Students had good perceptions of ER implementation as it influenced their reading habits.
