Nowadays swearing is something that is commonly practiced by many people in both oral and written communication. Usually people swear to express their anger towards other people or situations without the necessity of violence or doing dangerous things. This research focuses on the movie titled Colombiana directed by Oliver Megaton since most of the characters in the movie use swear words in communication. Furthermore this study aims to mention and explain the types of swear words and the purpose of the swear words used by the characters in the movie. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative by using conversation analysis approach to show the emotions of the characters. The data from the movie script was taken from the internet and the instrument is Colombiana movie. The results of this study found five types of swearing that are often spoken by the characters and four purposes of using swearing with a conversation analysis approach.
