Abstract

One of variety of language known as Bahasa Jaksel has become increasingly familiar to Generation Z as it is frequently encountered in both physical and virtual settings. The primary objective of this study is to analyze the recent advancements in Bahasa Anak JakSel and investigate its unique attributes in relation to other youth languages in Indonesia and/or on a global level. This research also provides A comparative analysis is conducted to explore the similarities and differences between Bahasa Jaksel and other youth languages. The fact that English is used quite frequently in Bahasa Jaksel the research presented here suggests that it does contribute in the development of youth language variation in Indonesia. The present study use data collection comprising 23 videos obtained from the social media platform TikTok. The videos provided in this study contribute a combined total of 98 words which serve as the primary dataset for analysis and have been classified into twelve categories which include acronyms initialisms verbs adverbs adjectives nouns prepositions phrases slangs English-rooted words combined with Indonesian affixation Indonesian-rooted words combined with English affixation and purely Indonesian terms. The findings of this study indicate that Bahasa Jaksel exhibits susceptibility to lexical manipulation and its usage among individuals belonging to Generation Z varies significantly.
