The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) directed by Wes Anderson is one of his most critically acclaimed films. Many critics have analyzed this film regarding its aesthetic and content making it stand out from his other films. One of the most eye-catching elements of the film is its unusual choice of composition which is the symmetrical composition. It brings forward the discussion on the significance of symmetrical composition in the film regarding the story context. It has been argued that such composition evokes balance stability order and harmony. In relation to one of the film rsquo s theme the film also showcases the theme of friendship between characters. Thus this article points out how the elements of composition can create such a state. The critic will use formalist film studies to understand how the composition works to emphasize harmonious friendship between the characters in the film.
