Jawa Timur Park Group has a significant impact in various sectors as the pioneer of modern amusement parks in Batu City. Through its signs this research aims to explore how Jawa Timur Park Group s signs shape Batu s Icon as a Tourism City. To achieve this aim the researcher analyzes the signs utilizing Cheong s (2004) Generic Structural Potential theory of printed advertisements and the signs symbolic functions based on Landry and Bourhis s (1997) Linguistic Landscape theory. Using a qualitative methodology a total of 53 signs were analyzed starting from the appearances the languages used and the symbolic functions. The results show that each type has different patterns on display and languages used. Three symbolic functions were also discovered namely signs symbolize JTPGroup as a local entity but a global player signs symbolize a fun atmosphere and signs symbolize a strong exposure which eventually helped shape Batu s icon as a tourist city.
