Listening, reading, speaking, and writing are the four abilities that must be mastered in order to masterlanguage acquisition. Writing ability is used to determine not only how well a student knows a second or foreign language,but also howwell they can express themselves in English.Writing is toughskill to acquire,and it is inevitable that students will make an error in their writing. This purpose of this research is toanalyze the errors made by the eighth graders in their descriptive text writing. The subject of this research was Grade 8 students of SMPN 21 Malang and used the descriptive qualitative method. The instrument used in this research was the students’ descriptive text writing. The researcher used theory by Dulay, Burt, and Krashen (1982) to analyze how many errors that the students made in percentage. The result of this research is that the errors that we remade by students we refourty pesofgrammatical errors,namely misformation (51 errors = 34%), omission (44 errors = 29.33%), addition (34 errors = 22.67%),and misordering(21errors=14%).
