Abstract

In English as Foreign Language (EFL) learning process English is mainly learnt and taught in as the classroom language with a lack of daily communication practice. Teacher has a critical role in the learner learning process as the teacher becomes both the main source and the facilitator of language learning. However several factors have become challenges for the teachers including teaching anxiety. The current study is aimed to find out the level of Foreign Language Teaching Anxiety (FLTA) factors and coping strategies. The subjects were 55 new teachers with less than 3 years of teaching experience. FLTA questionnaire adopted from DeVellis (2016) was used as the research instrument. The result of this study shows that among 5 factors of FLTA 4 factors have low-level of FLTA while 1 other factors have moderate level of FLTA. There are also several coping strategies that is commonly used by the new teachers. Further research focusing more on the degree of the anxiety and more detailed and applied coping strategies could elucidate a better explanation of the topic which also would be better to show the effective anxiety-reducing techniques in foreign language anxiety classrooms
