Abstract

Education nowadays should be able to assist students to think logically actively creatively and critically. Students are therefore expected to be able to solve problems effectively. This research is aimed to discuss the use of the Treffinger Learning and Thinking Aloud Pair Problem Solving to improve the 8th graders rsquo problem solving abilities. The study used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design which was conducted in two cycles each cycle includes 4 stages of activities namely planning implementing observing and reflecting. The approach used is a qualitative approach as the main approach and a quantitative approach as a complement. Based on the data generated in cycle I student learning outcomes have not reached the target set by the researcher so the researcher held a cycle II in order to improve things that was still lacking in the implementation of learning techniques. In cycle 2 students learning outcomes have reached the target so it can be stated using the Treffinger s learning and Thinking Aloud Pair Solving is successfully improve students problem solving abilities in class VIII C of SMP Ahmad Yani Batu.
