Abstract

A recent study by Budiyono and Rohrlich (2017) has shown that quantum mechanics can be represented asclassical statistical mechanics by providing an ontic extension and epistemic restriction in phase space. Althoughformulated in a general fashion this representation is not yet checked for specific quantum systems numerically. Some of the particular interest is a quantum system involving interaction between atoms and photons becausethis system forms the basis of quantum electrodynamics. This paper aims to apply the epistemically-restrictedphase space representation of quantum mechanics to solve the so-called Jaynes-Cummings-Rabi (JCR) modelas an example of proof of concept of the representation. We use the Python programming language to generatecalculation scripts. Our algorithm is to determine the wave function and the Hamiltonian of the JCR modeland then implement them on the Budiyono-Rochrlich theory. It shows that the numerical result is close to theanalytical result for every separated system in the JCR model which are qubit and photon system. In the JCRmodel itself the calculated energy values for the ground and the first excited states are minus 0.91 a.u. and 0.41 a.u.with corresponding errors of 9.12 times 10 minus 8 and 1.95 times 10 minus 8 respectively.
