Technological advances and developments in this modern era also have impacts on the development and variation in language. The growing trend of Bahasa Jaksel among Indonesian teenagers a mix of English and Indonesian which have some controversies because it is not easily understood to learn and use by Indonesian adults. This study aims to examine the use of Bahasa Jaksel and its controversy as the language trend on Twitter. This study is an explorative-qualitative research with data taken from several tweets of Indonesian Youth Influencer and interviews of 12 people in Surabaya. There are 6 types of code-mixing found in this study (1) insertion of word (2) insertion of phrase (3) insertion of hybrid (4) insertion of word reduplication (5) insertion of idiom and (6) insertion of clause. The results show that the positive impact towards the controversy of Bahasa Jaksel is Indonesian teenagers use it in order to be trendy and modern. Meanwhile the negative impact is Bahasa Jaksel is still not easily understood by all circles especially Indonesian adults which are prefer not to use it because they don t understand English.
