Abstract

This study explores Women rsquo s Language Features in Jo March rsquo s Dialogues from Little Women Movie. It is aimed to identify the language features applied by the main characters to find out social factors and dimensions that influence women rsquo s language using the theory of women rsquo s language features proposed by Robin Lakoff (1975). The researcher used a descriptive qualitative method to analyze the dialogues in the movie. The findings of the analysis showed that there were seven kinds of women rsquo s language features found in the movie Little Women (2019). There were also some social factors that influence women rsquo s language used by the main character such as the participant the setting the topic and the function. The social factors of each type of the features are closely related to the context in which it is used. In addition the social dimension is also related to the factors for the analysis that consists of social distance status formality and function. Each type of women rsquo s linguistic features found in Jo March rsquo s dialogue in the movie displays different functions and reasons.
