No wonder that demand of perfect translation is increasing. One of the most important fields which need translation is education especially translating new knowledge from foreign resources which mostly are written in English. Unfortunately not all translators are good to make standard translation. One example is in the bilingual biology textbook which is published by Yudhistira which is the data source of this study. The purpose of this study is to answer two research questions (1) what are the errors found in the bilingual biology textbook and (2) what is the most frequent error in the bilingual biology textbook 12288 12288 12288 12288 12288 The employed method in this study is descriptive qualitative where the researcher is the main instrument. Besides he also uses several dictionaries such as Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English and Oxford Advanced Learners Dictionary to consult to find better term in every case the translated text does not sounds so English or violating English Grammar rule. 12288 12288 12288 12288 12288 After the data collection process the researcher founds that there are three main types of errors in the bilingual biology textbook grammatical error diction error and substandard language. Grammatical error is in the first place of the most frequent (46.79%). Then it is followed by diction error (28.44%) and substandard language (24.77%). The total error founds in the bilingual biology textbook is 109. The rank of the error from the most frequent to the least one is grammatical error with 51 times appearance diction error with 31 times appearance and substandard language error with 27 times of error. In grammatical error the most frequent type of surface strategy is misformation with 43 times of appearance form 52 times in total of grammatical error. In other words the percentage is 82.69%. 12288 12288 12288 12288 12288 In conclusion there are errors in translating Indonesian to English in the bilingual biology textbook. The dominating error is grammatical error. As suggestion the bilingual biology textbook publisher has to evaluate the performance of the translator and editors. Another suggestion is for students or the users of the bilingual biology textbook for being careful in using English bilingual biology textbook which is produced out of English speaking countries like Indonesia. Finally future researchers are suggested to look deeper in analyzing translation error in books of other subjects such as nature science text books social science textbooks or other source which contain special vocabularies for the specific field.
