Sarjana s thesis Departement of Chemistry Mathematic and Science Faculty State University of Malang. Advisor (I) Dra. Nazriati M.Si (II) Drs. Ida Bagus Suryadharma M.S Keywords misconception chemical equilibrium Public Senior High School 2 Kediri. Science is a combination of knowledge and process that s why science doesn t merely studying about the concepts principals but also the process that yield science products. Science can be divided into fields one of them is chemistry than need special handle in teaching because chemistry is abstact. In general chemistry concepts is stage concepts So it is essential to complete the basic concepts to learn the next concepts. One of the abstract concept is chemical equilibrium given to second grade senior high school students .This abstract concepts makes difficulty in learning chemistry. The purpose of this experiment is to know the percentage of students who experience misconceptions in learning equilibrium constant and the factors affecting equilibrium shift and also to know what kind of misconceptions experienced by students. This is an descriptive experiment. The steps in this experiment are (1) instrument arrangement (2) validation (3) instrument s test (4) collecting the data and (5) data processing. Sample of this experiment is students of Public Senior High School 2 Kediri Second Grade Students year 2008/2009 it consists of 7 classes and each class consists of 30 students. It is known from the test before that average score of each class is almost the same so random sampling is used.The result is chosen XI A-6 and XI A-7 class as the sample. Instrument s test has been done in XI A-7 class and experiment is done in XI A-6 class. The instrument of this experiment is objective test consists of 28 valid questions with 0 9404 coefitient reliability. Descriptive analysis data taken from determining percentage students misconceptions. Experiment results show the percentage of students in understanding is (1) equilibrium constant Kc 29 55% (2) equilibrium constant Kp 34 33% (3) the relationship of equilibrium constant of a reaction with another reaction 6 7%. For the percentage of students in understanding the factors affecting equilibrium shift is (1) concentration 48% (2) temperature 39% (3) pressure 38% (4) volume 43 3%. Misconceptions found in this experiment are Kesalahan (1) the concentration of all substances in equilibrium state are the same (2) addition of concentration in a substance will shift equilibrium toward the substance (3) jika if temperature raised the equilibrium will shift towards exothermic reaction (4) adding or reducing concentration won t shift the equilibrium.
