This study analyses symbols in The Masque of the Red Death and the extent to which the symbols are still relevant to the Covid-19 pandemic situation. To analyze this story the researchers applied Sociological approach. By applying this approach the researchers are able to analyze the correlation between the meaning behind the symbols and how they despite being written more than a century ago can still be relevant during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the analysis the researchers concluded that there are five symbols in this story which are Prince Prospero The Castellated Abbey The Clock The Red Death and The Reveler on The Masquerade Ball. Three out of five symbols have relevance to the situation in the COVID-19 era. The three symbols are the Red Death Prince Prospero and the castellated abbey. In conclusion specific works of literature can be used as an historical reference on how certain society deals with a specific issue which might still be relevant today
