Due to technological advances there are new tools in learning a language that many students use it to help them study more easily. Previously using a monolingual dictionary was the only tool for English as Foreign Language (EFL) learners when they were uncertain about the choice of a word or cannot find the appropriate words to write. However another method that EFL students are known to use nowadays is online translators (such as Google Translate). This research aims to find whether EFL students use Google Translate or not describe how the students utilize Google Translate in language learning process and describe the students rsquo perceptions of the ethicality of using Google Translate for doing assignment using survey research. The subjects were 80 English Department students cohort 2017 at a state university located in Malang. The instrument used to collect the data was a set of questionnaire. The result of this study shows that the number of students who used Google Translate is high with positive perception toward Google Translate on language learning proved by students rsquo better evaluation regarding accuracy compared to previous studies and also the number of students who believed that there is nothing wrong in using Google Translate is also increasing. The result of this study can be used by lecturers or teachers as a consideration to permit the use of Google Translate in lesson activities. Further research about Google Translate accuracy or effectiveness in more specific language learning activities or on language learning activities that Google Translate might help best is needed.
