In this digital era technology is invented to help people s tasks become easier including the presence of digital reading media. The existence of digital media creates new environment for readers as they easily can get more reading materials from internet. This advantage indicates that digital media is convenient enough for any readers purpose in reading. However some people still struggle in term of shifting and adapting to new habits including reading on digital media. Therefore this study was conducted to identify English Language and Literature students digital reading habit as well as their problems that might occur during digital reading activity. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach survey research design to collect the data. Since the population was quite large stratified random sampling was used in this study. The total respondents for the questionnaire were 108 students including English Language and Literature (ELL) students from the third fifth seventh and ninth in 2020/2021 academic year. The instrument used to collect the data was online questionnaire with 2 variables digital reading habit and digital reading problems. The findings of this study revealed that English Language and Literature (ELL) students preferences in digital reading habit. There were 94 ELL students (87%) who preferred to read only in leisure time whereas 36.1% students did not read every day. They rather read 1 or 2 English materials (37%) in every week and 57.4% students preferred printed version. Both fiction and non-fiction texts were popular among ELL students with percentage 73% as well as art and culture. ELL students purpose in reading was mostly gaining information (89.4%) not only for fun. They intended to read even though reading English materials were still hard for them to understand in a certain point. ELL students revealed that jokes (65.7%) and movie or books reviews (63.9%) were their favorite materials. They prefer social media (51.9%) as their resources in reading digitally even though they chose PDF Viewer (71.3%) as the E-book. Entertainment got the top spot as the most frequently visited websites with percentage 64.8% as they chose online reading. Based on the findings they need to step up their habit in reading because ELL students are still lacking in amount of time in reading and the number of materials they usually read despite they have various preferences. This study also showed that ELL students had experienced digital reading problems such as fatigue and haptic dissonance or unfamiliar feelings. Most of them agreed that those problems might occur during reading in digital media. The problems might affect the readers expectation as Gerlach (2011) states that the obstacles are mostly fatigue and haptic dissonance that might occur during the reading activity. However speed motivation and improvement did not affect their digital reading activity because they still felt the improvement could read fast and had motivation to read digitally. Despite those aspects had negative responses ELL students still struggle in digital reading habit as they face difficulties in adapting and shifting from paper version to digital version of passages. For English lecturers it is suggested to motivate students more to read by suggesting or providing English reading sources so that they can build good English reading habit. English lecturers also can give tasks which relates to the topics they love. For curriculum administrators they can create interesting materials along with lecturers for students based on their reading habit since they also have preference in some sources of digital reading so that the learning environment is more comfortable and minimalizing the problem of reading digitally happen. For future researchers who conduct similar or related studies it is suggested to conduct research for different levels of subjects and relates the digital reading preference to academic achievement
